Yes, it's called Classic Celebs, Beauty & Elegance. it's a very large part of our forum but everyone has a choice, if you're not into that sort of thing don't visit the section.

i guess his subline is that this stuff is rather offtopic in terms of adult erotica. we have it, and it's ok that it's here, but if you see it just from this angle (choice what you like to visit) we could also add subforums for cars, boats and architecture - and sure, some folks wank over these subjects, too.

Well it is not quite as offtopic as some stuff...

The way it arises is some stars sometimes pose nude, they also appear on mag covers, mag covers tend to be well-taken photographs, and then people who collect material for a star typically want also all their mag covers - clothed or not. For Ingrid Steeger, we've recorded well in excess of a 100 mag covers, many of them nude, and many of them clothed - and amongst the latter are also 5 Bravo covers.

You also get the odd sultry mag cover in Bravo, e.g. Marisa Mell's cover from August 1963.

Well, I'm not in Germany now to check whether the situation has changed in the last few months, but when I reported this this summer in that thread several people including GeogeMcSoon and AlGebra confirmed my observation.

I'm sure these settings are switch-offable - with a bit of determination.

Thing is: somebody applying that determination is looking for porn, not teenage mags. That somebody may be a child but it would be a child visiting us with purpose. Just imagine you were your former 15-year-old self now, how would you stumble across VEF?

A workaround may be to post the cover but not name the actual mag in the post? That way it minimises the chance of Google search hits.

Sure. It makes very little difference in practice, because mag cover posters rarely mention the name of the mag. Of course, there are other places in VEF that mention the word: this very thread, my mag cover indexes, the banned list itself, and lots and lots of posts like this.

this would help

it would be possible to add the word itself to the banned word filter (that's the admin tool which, for example, replaces banned domains with ****** ).

but imho that would go too far. "bravo" as standalone word wouldn't fire a search result with a link to our forum within the first 1000 pages. it's too common, world wide.

my concern is based on more specific searches, when not so many results (1-5 pages) exist. that's often the case if you search for specific magazine volumes including a further keyword like a name or an event.

Me as teen would have given a bad example, cause i definitly would have used google with the purpose to find porn. If I had internet those days... hell beware. but with 15 i didn't read Bravo anymore. that was entertaining lecture for me when i was 9-13 years old at max. Later the mag was deffo too dull, in my eyes.

Come to think of it, because of the nondescript name the mag's not easy to search for. People would probably combine the search with the German word for "magazine".

All that aside, the whole issue raised by hos opens up a can of worms. We have other content on VEF that much more prominently associates with youth culture than the odd vintage Bravo cover, take e.g. the long-running "what do you listen to at the moment" thread (even though it largely reflects the musical taste of a bunch of old farts - well, us) or your favourite loony tunes cartoons.

BTW I grew up in Germany, at the heyday of the mag when its circulation was nearing 2 million. I never ever read a single issue.

I actually was not into low culture, with the possible exception of Spencer/Hill movies. Pop music I only discovered in my twenties - didn't buy a single record as a teenager. Celebrity culture - something for Petri dishes! Normal teenagers try to fit into their peer group and I did not.

No, what happened was that a couple of 1960s Senta Berger mag covers I had posted in her thread got removed by a mod, I was thinking and consequently I dug a bit deeper. Censorship is something I find a constant source of annoyance, it gets up my tits big time - having had several imported parcels in the 1990s confiscated by customs (I was probably pretty close to getting my flat raided), having seen numerous US porn flicks in the castrated and unwatchable form the British censor left them, knowing how youth protection legislation is routinely used in Germany as a smokescreen to re-introduce censorship through the backdoor, and having observed the devastating impact the censorship of porn promotion had in both Germany and France on the quality of their porn production, having had hundreds of items I was bidding on on ebay removed by their mods... OK, rant over.
