I just downloaded a file as a free unregistered user and got 600 kb/sec..... go figure

Made four attempts on different days to get files. Things would start off well, then drop significantly to around 700 kb/s and then stop doing anything (while showing this speed) for around half an hour before becoming a failed download.

For me, its been a progressive thing. From longer and longer between downloads, to steadily slower download speeds. Now, it seems to be over, but perhaps others are getting lucky?

I have issues and then i have no issues with the same file
That wont ever change with the exception of paying

Registering seems to make a small difference

Anonymous downloading would seem to be have been the 3rd tier for some time
just like anonymous uploading which some hosts since 2012 dont offer

Only way to get a reading thats useful is to pick a link and ask others to test it

99% of the time it comes down to demand - to close to the top of a forum and you'll have the premium users hoovering it all up - wait a week or 2 as it drops lower down the forum pages and it might be more accessible.

Occasionally it will be your own connection or extensions/software conflicts in play

Too few premium users and the hosts has less revenue to pay for bandwidth

Too many premium users downloading too much too quickly and that bandwdith
goes all too them and free users get come back later or download aborted.

Read the TOS or FAQs - theres usually a discalimer that says free users will get kicked off
if demand on servers is too high.

Just now trying a d/l for a registered user only & I am getting around 100 k/b sec. 100 k/b is what they advertised for a free/registered user. (1/4/17 @ 1:PM Central Time)

So there is only one good host for free users: Mega! We'll see how long it works?
