Yes, I did get a few files without throttling earlier in the week.

Here are screencaps of what I'm getting when I've tried to download over the last 24-36 hours or so.

After that it goes to one of these two screens:

This is even after waiting their required time to re-try a download....
Sorry about the ads on the caps but I turned off the adblockers just in case that was the issue.

Although it may look like you have to pay if you see the page (that does look confusing), if you click on the orange "Cliquer ici pour télécharger le fichier" button in the bottom it will just proceed and download it for free.

That said, just like Luch, i am also Belgian (though i doubt the location will matter much for this case?)

I have the same problem as other members, which means it doesn't work for me either as a free user. I switched to French and can't see that "Cliquer ici pour télécharger le fichier" button. It may depend on the file size?

Edit: it's not file size-related. But there are some fichier links that start the download without opening the page.

Well, weird... i tried it again with another file (randomly picked from VEF), a small one of 5MB this time, and it went without problems again. This time i remembered to take screenshots:



clicked Acceder au telechargement




and clicked Cliicquez...

Could it be uploader related? Like premium uploader content versus free uploaded stuff?

I think that can be ruled out. If that was the case, we wouldn't see messages like this:

Free access does not allow survival of the service!

It's definitely part of fichier's new policy.

Their starting with the upgrade message because no filehost has survived losing their credit card facility to my knowledge.

Infact there are a 100+ dead in the past 4 years because of a lack of it.

Been watching their usage stats drop from 67% 2 weeks ago to 23% yesterday
and today 14%

60 days with inactivity - Dead files will more often than not look like this



For those files are alive - access to download button - in the middle of the page
you select to bypass the premium upgrade offer - download file




Just downloaded this 280mb file no issues - the rest posted around the same time in March 2016 all show deleted for no activity after 60 days

The 15 days from the last download before deletion only applies to anonymous uploaders
Free registered uploaders get 30 days.

I "bitched" at support telling them that they are violating their stated terms of use by blocking free users from downloading way longer than 2 to 6 hours. I also told them that if they continue to do this, they will alienate any free users who are considering paying for an access account or premium account.

Hopefully, they'll get the message.
