So true-and whistleblowers rarely get any thanks-more often it costs them their job, their friends, they are often ostracised- and in extreme cases their lives: I can think of two cases of the latter-one in NZ and one in the UK-the former definitely suicide-the latter-rather suspect. Both the US and UK police are launching investigations into Harvey Weinstein, according to the BBC. The New York Police Department is looking into an allegation dating from 2004 and is reviewing whether there are any additional complaints. Meanwhile London's Metropolitan Police has received an allegation of sexual assault in the London area in the 1980s.

Actress Kate Beckinsale is also saying she had an encounter with Harvey Weinstein at the age of 17, at the Savoy Hotel in London. She joins Gwyneth Paltrow, Angelina Jolie, Cara Delevingne, Lea Seydoux, Rosanna Arquette, Mira Sorvino who talked about their experiences with Weinstein.

Tonight Emma Thompson is on BBC's Newsnight saying there are "many" others like Weinstein in Tinseltown.

Weinstein's alleged behaviour has been repeatedly described in the past week as Hollywood's "open secret". If these allegations are true, then the hypocrisy of the Weinstein affair stinks to high heaven.

Harvey Weinstein is just one of many. Didn't we just go through something similar with Roger Ailes and others at Fox News? If you want tales of adultery and womanizing among presidents let's start with Trump, Clinton, Reagan, Johnson, Eisenhower, FDR, Harding, Cleveland, Garfield, Jackson, and Jefferson. Then, we have the sheer ugliness of Bill Cosby's predations.

Looking back on my working life, sexual misconduct by both sexes showed up from time to time. I'm not a social/gossip kind of guy. So I probably missed knowing the half of it. From what I am gathering in the reports and from conversations with women and men is that sexual harassment and quasi-rape must be navigated by women in the workplace on a daily basis. Thus, we do not hear of abusers until the press decides to out somebody. Some women are traumatized; others seem to view it as a cost of doing business and try to extract maximum benefit from abusers.

We are human beings. We may have begun wearing animal skins to ward off cold, but discovered that a side effect was decreasing the amount of time spent in mating. Primitive people in the tropics only cover their genitals. So, it is likely that we have sought to curb excess sexual activity from ancient times. But some large and physically dominating men take what they want. I have ended friendships with men of this type not wanting to be associated with those who recklessly harm others. Maybe I should have done more than warn women about them. Then again, many women ignored the warnings and reported assaults to me later.

But when will men speak about manizing stories, not womanizing, manizing... because there are a lot and we never speak about it. Medias never relate these stories.

Isn't it time to men to defend ourselves too?

Don't we, males, have the right to be nice, attractive?
