A bottle of joy from the bottom and back of the pantry.
Found this at the back of the pantry preparing to gut the kitchen prior to a full and years overdue refit. Decided to take the risk and chilled it thoroughly taking care to keep the bottle upright. With the wire removed the cork shot out like a bullet and ended up behind the front door. It didn't overflow. It was absolute nectar despite being in there for at least fifteen years and a mere 4% alcohol. Crystal clear and a natural effervescence. Only the last few cc were sedimented and had to be thrown down the sink. As I recall it came from a Farmer's Market, possibly in Stratford upon Avon.

Went out to do the garden that I have been neglecting for weeks.
Started at 11.30am in a lovely blue sky. White T-shirt and shorts, good gardening clothing. Chopped a Lilac tree, a silver birch and various other bushes. Had a great time. mrstamsmith returned about 5pm from her shopping expedition and quickly told me I had several red marks on my T-shirt. At that point I decided it was time I replaced the fluids and blood that I had lost. So no more work, time for alcohol. By 9pm I had enough of the garden and now I am on my last Scrumpy Jack so I will not be up too much longer. |

Today's drink is from Germany: Hacker Pschorr Sternweisse. It has a murky dark orange color with an off-white head. Alcohol content 5.5%. Typical wheat beer has tastes of banana, clove and spice. Very good overall. Last edited by trailmaster; December 5th, 2018 at 10:03 PM.. |
