Especially in the dark areas of the ship, where there's not much light and it's difficult to see.

Why would a spacecraft appear to be aerodynamic anyway?
They'll have lights on them too, not to merely shed light onto the empty space surrounding

but to make them easier to spot by alien vessels & to conform with universal traffic control guidelines
