Predicting other country's elections is like mind reading. I don't do either.

For the record, Trump endorsed 31 House candidates. 28 of them have lost. 7 governorships have flipped red to blue, with two undecided. Republicans gained two Senate seats, with two more undecided.
A couple of points here.

Republicans achieved backlash poll victories in the House just as notable in 1994 (Clinton) and 2010 (Obama) - much more sizable wins than the Democrats this time. Newt Gingrich gloated in 1994 that President Clinton was "roadkill". Yet in neither case did the Republicans kick on from their midterm wins and unseat the incument Democrat president afterwards.

Second point - even though there were more Democrat senate seats up for grabs than Republican senate seats, the fact that three Democrats lost their seats in the Senate is not a hopeful sign for 2020.

Retaining the House would have been great for them but very unrealistic and that would likely not have happened no matter which GOP candidate was elected. This midterm all in all was pretty good for the GOP. Much better than anticipated. I'm very pleased with the outcome. Now that the Dems have a majority in the house they can show their true obstructionist nature. Just in time for 2020.
Careful now. "true obstructionist nature." = a selling point of the GOP for some time now. Crying foul while fouling the waters in the worst ways possible, raising Gerrymandering to a new art form, sheesh. Makes me ashamed I voted for any Republicans at any time in my life.

Georgia has some of the most lenient gun laws in the nation. I'm surrounded by bubbas and their thirty round magazines. I feel pretty safe here. The only place in the country that has more firepower is Chicago and they're too busy killing each other.

Dear Baby Jesus, please let them re-elect Pelosi as their Speaker. That would be Trump's wet dream. Or maybe Maxine Waters.

Rumor is that it will be Pelosi in the short term, but she plans to announce her retirement within the year. I don't understand why y'all dislike this little old lady so much. She is very effective at deal making and lining up votes. You don't really expect California Democrats to merrily go allong with legislation that their constituents despise do you?

She is also much more moderate than her district. You have to expect one of the far left state legislators or county supervisors to replace her. Trump should be careful what he wishes for. Ms Pelosi is far more savvy about the ways of government than he is.

The hatred on Pelosi is just one of the Rs many misogynistic themes. At this point, its kinda obvious. Hatred on Pelosi, hatred on Hillary Clinton-- all brewed up over nothing. If it was some other woman, they'd hate on her too. They hate on "her", whoever that "her" might be: "welfare queens", HRC or Nancy Pelosi.

People forget, but when the financial system was melting down in the fall of 2007, and Bush couldn't get the Republican Congress to pass a bail out bill (TARP), the Secretary of the Treasury went to Pelosi, the minority leader, for help.

Could you have imagined Paul Ryan or Mitch McConnell lifting a finger to help Obama get something necessary for the nation passed?

So she's a responsible and reasonable political professional, who actually cares about governance. For today's Republicans, that makes her the devil . . .

Oh, sort of like hate on the Obamas, but that's not racist.

Default Around the Donald in 60 seconds...

A topless protester tried to jump in the way of the US President Donald Trump’s motorcade as he travelled to a commemoration ceremony on Armistice Day in France.

The woman who had the words ‘fake peace’ scrawled across her chest and stomach was quickly detained by French police officers.

She was pictured with her arms raised in the air as one officer grabbed her by the arm and another grabbed her by the waist.

Three officers then removed her and placed her at the side of the road where she was pictured lying on the floor as they stood over her.

The woman appeared to be a member of Femen, a radical feminist activist group that is based in Paris and frequently carries out shock protests against sexism, racism, homophobia and other social and political issues.

She came within a few metres of the motorcade, in an incident that is likely to raise questions about security at the event attended by some 70 world leaders

President Donald Trump's tweet blaming "gross mismanagement" for the devastating California wildfires is sparking backlash from top firefighters' associations, politicians and celebrities.

In a series of tweets Saturday, Trump said the state's deadly wildfires are a result of "poor" forest management and threatened to cut federal aid.

"There is no reason for these massive, deadly and costly forest fires in California except that forest management is so poor," Trump tweeted. "Billions of dollars are given each year, with so many lives lost, all because of gross mismanagement of the forests. Remedy now, or no more Fed payments!"

His tweet drew the ire of the leaders of firefighters' organizations, who accused the President of bringing politics into a devastating disaster.

The Camp Fire in Northern California has killed 23 people and burned 105,000 acres. The Woolsey Fire near Los Angeles has scorched 83,275 acres and the Hill fire in Ventura County 4,531 acres.

Any criticism or dislike of Obama was racism.

Any criticism or dislike of Pelosi and HRC was misogyny.

But only from registered Republicans.

I thought you understood these basic tenets by now.

I will take your assessment of Pelosi at face value. However, she represents the old generation with all the accumulated baggage of that implies and entails - someone more associated with 2108 would be a wise choice.
