They don't want to spend the $ (they agreed to when NATO was formed) to defend themselves,

http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2018...ls-summit.html

Why should the USA?

We already paid our share of money and lives saving them from the Nazi and keeping the Russians from invading Western Europe.

We have our own problems at home to spend $ on.

Do these NATO members countries spend any money to keep the USA safe here in North America?

NOPE!

I would remind our European members that many Americans have neither an understanding of history, nor of economics.

I offer the above example.

Do you feel threatened by your Mexican neighbors and their mighty army, navy and air force - and would European troops patrolling your southern border put your fears at ease?

I have a feeling that the proud people of Texas or Arizona wouldn't take kindly to Germany and France opening up bases in their fine states, or Eurofighters patrolling their airspace.

I do believe the USAF can deal with these top of the line Mexican menaces of the sky on its own, should the need arise.

Makes sense if you buy the demagogue's rhetoric. Personally, I think the U.S. spends all that money on its military to maintain its economic empire.

Most Europeans (70%) can converse in at least two languages. Most of us Americans have great difficulty conversing in one.

Yes, and I quite admire his zeal in pressing the action that President Obama started in 2011.

I personally speak German and 5 other foreign languages.
That's an interesting challenge.
When I see how beautiful are Russian women, I think that I need to learn this language asap.

By the way we never needed American help.
Do not forget that US shareholders (as European ones) financed Nazism to reach power.
NATO was then the worst crap ever. Marshall plan too.

We don't need to spend money in our defense.
Today we have to friendly collaborate with Russians, Iranians and Chineses.
Education is the most efficient "weapon".

Americans are welcome as long as they are peaceful, but have to change the mind of their leaders.
Imperialism must cease. Friendship must progress.

I agree with Trump. European have to manage by themselves with the costs of their weaponery.
They have to totally cut it.

Gandhi kicked out of India British imperialism without any weapon.

Time for the E.U. countries to stand up on their own, much like a child who is over 18 and still living at home and won't become independent financlally and individually, and the parents have to do some tough love and kick him out for him to fend on his own.

If he is hungry enough, he will get off his ass and go get a job to put food on his own table and put a roof over his own head without his parents help.

NATO should have been dissolved when the Warshaw Pact was dissolved after the collapse of the USSR. It wasn't, because it still serves America's geopolitical goals. Those goals are more and more at odds with the geopolitical goals of the European Union, which are a) a reciprocal relationship with Russia and b) a stabilized Northern and Central Africa.

I would be all for a hefty increase of our defense and intelligence budget to gain true independence from the United States - as well as the removal of all American troops and intelligence assets from oir soil - if it also meant the dissolution of NATO in favor of a European defense alliance. Increasing that spending just to be better vassals to the American empire and being able to field larger troop contingents for America's wars at the other end of the world however is a waste of our tax money.

If the US wants to continue waging a neverending war all over the world, by all means, they should do it without our support. America first - and America alone.
