On tonight “RAF at 100” with Ewan and Colin McGregor
On BBC 1, 90 minute commemorative programme with the actor and his ex-RAF Officer brother.
Will be available on BBC iPlayer later. Not sure what the position is for non-UK residents using that method of viewing. The featured Second World War Pilot Geoffrey Wellum wrote a book called “First Light” which is available on Amazon Kindle. I have a hard copy bought in an airport shop many years ago. Another of the featured pilots Martin Withers is the man who flew the celebrated Falklands Black Buck 1 mission the first of seven attacks. Look for the book “Vulcan 607” which is on my book shelves. |

Watched that show with Colin and Ewan McGregor, very well done as were the last two programmes they made for the BBC. Geoffrey Wellum was every inch the gentleman flier and seeing the two women pilots from World War ll was quite something. Very sad to hear two of the people that appeared had died and one before the programme was made -Typhoon pretty awesome plane, Spitfire though remains my favourite aircraft of all time.

some rarely seen Disney movies on TCM tomorrow...
Turner Classic Movies is showing a whole batch of rarely-seen Disney movies, hosted by Leonard Maltin on the 29th. Here's what they're running, not in this order…
The Golden Touch (1935) Mickey's Trailer (1938) Mr. Duck Steps Out (1940) The Sword and the Rose (1953) Rob Roy: The Highland Rogue (1953) In Search of the Castaways (1962) The One and Only, Genuine, Original Family Band (1968) The Journey of Natty Gann (1985) The One and Only, Genuine, Original Family Band is kind of a "lost" movie musical with songs by the Sherman Brothers and nice performances by John Davidson, Walter Brennan, Buddy Ebsen and many others. |

Another rare Disney film NEVER seen anywhere on television is 'Treasure of Matecumbe' which I remember seeing at our local cinema in the seventies.

Started on S02 of Jessica Jones. So far it's as good as I was hoping, but please god, let the poor girl find some peace of mind this season.

The New Legends Of Monkey. It's good and it brings a nostalgic tear or two to these jaded old eyes.

Still Game ( BBC TV )
Still Game
This is a great Comedy series which has become the most successful comedy in modern Scottish telly history, with its blend of subtle pathos, caustic ripostes and scathing humour among the close-knit community of codgers on the streets of Craiglang ( Glasgow ) I am really enjoying the current eighth series on BBC Scotland – it is also being shown across the rest of the UK on BBC1 . If you have never seen it before , I recommend you check it out ( its better than the vast majority of crap on our screens these days ) |
