Default Add Ons for Firefox Disabled

The add ons for the Firefox that I use on my computer have been disabled and from what I can find so far add ons for Firefox have been disabled completely. It surprises me and doesn't completely surprise me since the past couple of weeks Firefox has been having problems with Adblocker.

Firefox, for a few versions now, is running an engine called Quantum, which disables most old add-ons. There's a longer thread about these issues, including good add-on replacements, where available, here:

http://vintage-erotica-forum.com/t34...refox-570.html

As far as ad blocking in the new Firefox, I would also recommend moving to uBlock Origin. Also, for old Scrapbook users on FF clones, like WaterFox, Scrapbook+ is back, with a lot of the old features, but it's quite a bit more difficult to use.

There are various discussions on Firefox and various other browsers and imagehosts in there which could be useful.

uBlock Origin is disabled too. That one is still a legitimate plugin that is current and updated for new versions of FF.

Looks like all ad-blockers are disabled from what I'm hearing.

FF better get this sorted and fast. If they are going to 'force' its users to view ads and suffer through paid content, they are done.

Is this yet another compulsory 'bending at the knee' to the high and mighty throne of the Google Empire?

The Government of Oceania: Ministry of Information: Department Of Electronic Communication & Commerce: Has determined that all non-party members will be subject to any and all manner of intrusive online content. Commercial in nature or otherwise. Malicious content is not subject to Ministry regulation. Any damage to devices or theft of information does not exist, as this is always the way it has been in Oceania. Party members are exempt from this new regulation, which has always existed.

My FF is running normally though, all add-ons enabled as they're supposed to be (including uBlock Origin).

Edit: and indeed this is a topic for the Help section.

It's definitely not affecting everyone but it is of firefox's doing as they have issued a statement saying the are working on a fix. Go to reddit search firefox easily over 1000 posts on the topic.

This is without an update to the FF browser itself, so how the hell did they do that?
Duck Duck go/HTTPS everywhere/Ghostery/Noscript/Adblock/flash and video download,
the bloody lot! It will be unuseable...
Interestingly HTTPS everywhere and No script are an integral
part of the Tor browser (Based on FF quantum). Will this make Tor unuseabale also?
Today HTTPS won't update in Tor.

Worldwide problem due to an expired addon check certificate. The Mozilla team is said to work on a fix.

Here's a workaround that I found in another forum. It works for me and many other people.

1. about: config -> set "devtools.chrome.enabled" to "true"

2. Strg-Shift-j -> opens a window that has a command line at the bottom -> click there and insert this:
Code:
// Re-enable *all* extensions
async function set_addons_as_signed() {
 Components.utils.import("resource://gre/modules/addons/XPIDatabase.jsm");
 Components.utils.import("resource://gre/modules/AddonManager.jsm");
 let addons = await XPIDatabase.getAddonList(a => true);

 for (let addon of addons) {
 // The add-on might have vanished, we'll catch that on the next startup
 if (!addon._sourceBundle.exists())
 continue;

 if( addon.signedState != AddonManager.SIGNEDSTATE_UNKNOWN )
 continue;

 addon.signedState = AddonManager.SIGNEDSTATE_NOT_REQUIRED;
 AddonManagerPrivate.callAddonListeners("onPropertyChanged",
 addon.wrapper,
 ["signedState"]);

 await XPIDatabase.updateAddonDisabledState(addon);

 }
 XPIDatabase.saveChanges();
}

set_addons_as_signed();
3. about: config -> set "devtools.chrome.enabled" back to "false"

If necessary restart Firefox.

Basically this reactivates the addons and disables the certificate check for the next 24 hours. Hopefully FF will be fixed until then, otherwise repeat it.
