At my previous job when I was a supervisor I always hated getting last minute call outs; it was never the night before or two hours before, but always at the moment the person was supposed to be in, or some time after the fact. The proverbial "no call/no show" always made it a logistical nightmare to get everything running smoothly because no one wanted to come in a day off, while others did not want to be re-assigned to other duties that HAD to be prioritized over what they were initially given to do. I was almost always understaffed to some extent, which then put more work and unwanted working hours for me.
One of my underlings always had to habit of calling out by putting on this voice that sounded like she was in her deathbed... yet a couple days later she'd show up either to work or would be shopping at the workplace on her day off, having made a miraculous recovery! Also my former company made it VERY difficult to terminate someone. It wasn't up to the general manger at the location to decide; it had to go through two other upper (and highly incompetent) managers plus an equally egregious human resources woman before they would allow it. Everything had to be documented for the infractions, and even that wasn't enough. It was always our word against the person we wanted to get rid of, and somehow they would always win. |

I use to work with someone who was supposed to start at 7:00am and she'd call in a five to seven and just say she wasn't coming in. Still, I did get the occasional satisfaction of a panicked call from her when someone did it to her. I'd just say, 'you'll just have to sort it, same way others do when you do it to them.' Never changed her behaviour though.

That while I was outside on my phone, the dog 'apparently' asked my grandson for a packet of cream biscuits and I had to clean the puke up off the lawn. Cream bickies are now on the shelf where greedy doggies and little hands can't reach them.

It's funny, but real great company's have a thing called "lazy days" or commonly referred to "just can't be arsed days" these are fully paid days! amazing but true.
But the small minded, but" think big little empire shites" are a million miles behind, just giving the bosses a little jaunt to the Dominican Republican in hurricane season mentality! We are human, not bots, ffs. Quote:

This week, it's idiots that waste food. Here's an example: some twat bought a pack of sausage rolls, took one bite and threw the whole pack into the bin.
We've got people here in Britain who can't afford to buy food, and yet people throw away perfectly good stuff. And then we come to the supermarkets, whose best before dates are ridiculously short, which guarantees some of this stuff gets binned (although that's not as bad as it was, as some of this ends up going to charities). However, there are people who think that as soon as they hit the best before date it automatically becomes infested with horrible bacteria and is inedible, thereby adding to the food waste mountain.

We have a product that gets chucked away every day that could supply every hospital and nursery and care home in the south west, because we have a chairman who looks like he snorts cocaine as his "expensive habit" and who talks up his arse, he is one despicable person, who has cost a lot of people their lively hoods! But we will keep sponsoring " well known team" throw a product down the drain and pay sod all to the workers, that about sums it up.
