'The siege of Jadotville'-a damn good (and fairly accurate) movie about a long forgotten incident in the Congo ca 1961-when an isolated Irish army company of UN peacekeepers held off 20 times their number for days, until they ran out of ammo and water. I've served with the Irish in the UN-and found them good and professional on an individual basis-the company involved in this incident deserved a lot better from their country---it's taken over 50 years but they finally received a richly deserved unit citation earlier this year-the first ever awarded to an Irish army unit-after decades of being shunned by their country, their politicians and their own army-sadly the guy who commanded them in the heroic defence (Maj Pat Quinlan) did not live to see justice done for his men, dying in 1997.

Bliss 1997 starring Craig Shaffer, Sheryl Lee, and Terrence Stamp. cameo appearance from Leigh Taylor Young and Lois Chiles. It's about a female who's having some difficulty in getting some orgasm. Directed by Lance Young aka Leigh's brother.
PS Craig Sheffer played Leigh's mother in the Hampton TV Series back in 1983 when he was 23 and Leigh was 38. 14 years later they were now on screen partners. Last edited by JamesBondJR; October 26th, 2016 at 05:34 AM.. |

Doctor Strange (2016)
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1211837/ I've waited a long time for this and it was worth it. The basic premise of the original story has been kept but slightly updated, using a minor character Kaecilius as the main human villain was a nice idea as it did not distract from the main threat from the alternative dimension https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HSzx-zryEgM I didn't really warm to the Inception style special effects but I can live with that, the other dimension scenes were far better. For fans wanting to stay on there are two trailers in the credits, a mid credit scene setting Dr S and another MCU star up for a further adventure and the second right at the end of the credits is what fans will have no doubt been expecting. PS Stan Lee has a brief cameo

Gappa, the Triphibian Monster (1967) aka Monster from a Prehistoric Planet
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0061550/ When an egg is taken from a remote island a part bird/part lizard creature hatches, the creature is taken to Japan to feature as part of a theme park attraction, meanwhile the parents wake up and go in search of baby Gappa. Totally cheesy but great fun as a guy in a monster suit crashes through model villages, I love these sort of films https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aQ1_Gg1Zhtg

Ultra low budget Scots horror/suspense film about a stranger held over night in a police station who may or not be human. Am a third of the way through and finding it ok-ish so far. There`s a couple of attractive lasses. Acting is pretty decent and Brian O’Malley is always good value.

How low budget ?. It took four years to complete and all filming could only take place at the weekends as everybody had to work during the week. Indeed. We`re talking a more than low budget labor of love for everybody involved. What a terrifically watchable movie though. In fact give me this over most of the high costing horror films I've seen so far this year !. Zooms along at a fun pace with everyone on screen giving their all, Deserves to be a franchise , Way above merely the average

I needed something to watch, so I chose:
Hellraiser III: Hell on Earth (1992)
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0104409/ earlier Hellraiser II: Hellbound (1988) http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0095294/?ref_=tt_rec_tt once again confirmed, one of the worst films for me |
