Darlene Cates December 13, 1947 - March 26, 2017
Very few actors in Hollywood history have done the next to impossible – create one iconic role, only never to be seen on the big screen again. Most of the time, those one-hit wonders are child actors, who decided (or their parents decided for them) that Hollywood wasn’t a great place for their formative years.
As rare as those one-and-done feature film appearances are for child actors, they’re almost unheard for adults. But among the fortunate few was Darlene Cates, who took the cinematic world by storm with her unforgettable role as Johnny Depp and Leonardo DiCaprio‘s housebound, obese mother Bonnie Grape in the 1993 cult hit What’s Eating Gilbert Grape. Alessandro Alessandroni
Alessandro Alessandroni March 18, 1925 - March 26, 2017 "... Italian musician and composer. He played multiple instruments, including the guitar, mandolin, mandolin, cello, sitar, accordion and piano, and composed over 40 film scores ..." -Wikipedia "... an accomplished whistler, Alessandroni collaborated with his childhood friend Ennio Morricone on a number of soundtracks for Spaghetti Westerns. Morricone's orchestration often calls for an unusual combination of instruments and voices. Alessandroni's twangy guitar riff is central to the main theme for The Good, the Bad and the Ugly. Alessandroni can be heard as the whistler on the soundtracks for Sergio Leone's films A Fistful of Dollars, For a Few Dollars More, Once Upon a Time in the West, Pervirella, and many others." -Wikipedia https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alessandro_Alessandroni http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0018145/ Ennio Morricone - Title Music (from “A Fistful of Dollars”) (1964): https://tmblr.co/ZoHQpk2K8G1dJ Alessandro Alessandroni: Whistling / Guitar

Gilbert Baker, LGBT rainbow flag creator, dies aged 65
Gilbert Baker, the San-Francisco-based artist who created the rainbow flag as a symbol for the gay community, has died aged 65, US media report. He initially designed an eight-colour flag in 1978 for the city's gay freedom day, the precursor to the modern pride parade. A candlelight vigil is planned for Friday evening in San Francisco. Mr Baker's original flag had eight colours, each representing a different aspect of humanity: Pink - sexuality Red - life Orange - healing Yellow- sunlight Green - nature Turquoise - art Indigo - harmony Violet - human spirit It would later be reduced to six stripes, removing pink and indigo, and swapping blue for turquoise. Mr Baker said he wanted to convey the idea of diversity and inclusion, using "something from nature to represent that our sexuality is a human right". In 2015, New York's Museum of Modern Art acquired the flag for its design collection, calling it a "powerful design milestone". Details: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-us-canada-39462530 RIP
