Reading the posts in this thread has made me realise how much alike we all are. My story mirrors elements of so many of the other posts.
I was also young looking for my age and shy. As much as I wanted to buy dirty magazines, I was more afraid of the embarrassment of being refused by someone behind the counter. An opportunity arose when I was 17. I had a job interview at an airport and thought that being dressed in a suit at an airport might cause the server to focus less on my young looks. Even still, it took me a long time to pluck up the courage to approach the till. They had a good selection and I took my time deciding which to buy, based predominantly on the covers. At a quiet moment when I thought I could get to the till, served and gone before another customer came up behind me, I bought my three magazines.

I got a buzz buying them which I never lost. At first I thought PB and PH were a bit high brow for me and had too little nudity. But I became a MF fan, although my buying opportunities were limited until I turned 18 and could legally buy them. Over the years, I tried just about every title generally available in the UK, but most weren't for me.

I bought MF every month until PRP took it over and then I soon stopped buying it. I also got right in to MO and bought it monthly until one of their revamps, in the 80's probably, when they had spoof columns such as the motoring column by the Rev Giles something or other. I didn't find it particularly amusing. The girls and photography were also changing. I also got caught up in the whole PB mythology and became something of a collector buying old copies when I got the chance. I was still buying PB long after I had stopped buying any other top shelf magazines. I started winding down with PB in 2002 due to artistic differences between me and the editor. Basically, I thought the girls were all looking the same and not my type anyway. I was also beginning to really dislike HMH. I bought my last magazine about a year ago.

I miss the buzz I got buying them. I never got into the electronic subscription thing, preferring to have a physical magazine in my hands to flick through. I have occasionally bought old magazines from the internet to try to relive my younger days. But at the end of the day current magazines no longer have content of the type I like so there is no point in me buying them.

I last posted here in 2010... Wow.

Things have changed a bit since then. Not long after I posted that last overview, Club International went to pot. Tattooed models, fake tits, and even a fake-titted regular girl. Then a change of publisher that ended up with the mag having the consistency of bog paper. I called time on my Club collection at the end of 2010, but by that time I had managed to fill all of the other gaps.

The result: an unbroken run of issues from Vol. 17 No. 1 (1988, well, published in 1987) through to Vol 39 No. 13 (2010). I did have Club Class and the Best Ofs, but as they were essentially duplicates I made the decision to clear them out. In fact, I made this decision only this month. The older Best Ofs are already on their way to a new home, while the more recent run and the Club Class issues have been listed for sale and are in the departure lounge in the attic. I also decided not to pursue the Men Only selection, in that I was finding it hard to get the volumes together. I believe in either picking the very best issues and sticking with that, or gunning for a complete run. Nothing in between.

So, right now I have that unbroken run of Club International issues, as well as the four quality, Jo Guest-filled years of Mens World between 1993 and 1997. Add to that around 75 Playboys from between 1989 and 1998, and a clean run of Playboy's Book of Lingerie from 1989 through to 1994. Plus a few odds and sods such as other more recent issues of MW with Stella/Sophie Moone, a couple of copies of Mayfair, some other Playboy flats, and some of the older copies of MO which I kept because of the sets with Misha Lee.

But by far the biggest change since that last post was the new element to my printed porn collection.

In 2010 when Club went down the shitter, I could not find one magazine out there that satisfied my very high demands. Short of raising the money, paying the right photographers/models and publishing something myself, there was nothing out there that ticked my many boxes. It should not have been that hard, really: all I wanted were pretty girls between the ages of 18 and 25, no fake tits, and no tattoos. But fashions and wider mores dictated that everything out there was going to fall short of this, and I more or less gave up on buying printed stuff.

That is, until I happened to download a PDF of Hustler's Barely Legal. As it was a Hustler publication, I had never given the title much thought; I assumed that it was full of transatlantic tattoed, silicone-enhanced types.

On looking through the PDF, I did not see one fake tit, or one tattoo. All of the girls were fresh and pretty. So I checked out a few more PDFs. Same result. Bingo. I found a couple of sites here in the UK that imported US titles, and ordered my first copy in 2013. I then set about working back to 2011, to essentially create a clean transition between Club and Barely Legal. It means that I have a porn magazine published every month since January 1987.

I managed to fill all the gaps, and have continued to buy the magazine to this day. It is, arguably, the best title on the market right now.

I then started to buy Hustler's Young and Sexy, which was essentially a pick of the best of Barely Legal and the best non-inked non-fake models from Hustler itself. Again, all boxes ticked.

So there we are... With all of the new additions and others shipping out, I now have around 650 mags in my collection.

I have been checking out the Parliament type stuff from about late 70s to late 80s. It can be expensive.

Whilst there is some nostalgia to thumbing through a vintage girle mag, lets face it its all far more convenient and cheaper sing the intenet. Also, porn underwent a sea change in the 70's and 80's. The professional porn model pictures took over and the old 'girl next door' photos disappeared. I hate professional porn. The women are hideous and they and the situations depicted are totally unreal. In the 60's both soft and harder core photos were amateurish and featured ordinary women like the ones who lived in your neighbourhood. The underlying text of these was the fantasy that you were looking at the sort of girl you knew and that she could be naughty and happy to let you see her body. I’ve never looked at or masturbated with professional porn pictures prefering this style and, god bless ‘em’ the home made photos and readers wives. In recent years I’ve become increasingly drawn to vintage pics many from the mags I bought as a youth. Fortunately, there are many sites on the net that cater for this preference and I have built up my own collection of favourites. Vintage Erotic Forum is the best source.

I started buying magazines in the early 1980s. My favourite was Mayfair with gorgeous girls we were led to believe were next-door types working as secretaries, teachers etc. Most of the girls had big boobs, natural of course, full-bush pussies, and wore lots of lacy lingerie. The poses were tasteful rather than gynaecological.

I especially liked the issue at the end of the year with the 40 favourites of the year (actually the previous year), because this provided a huge selection of masturbatory fodder.

I still buy Mayfair occasionally. There’s still a little thrill and anticipation in waiting to get it home. However, there’s usually disappointment because the girls all look very similar, have big fake tits and are shaved. The Mayfair Classic is the best bit these days.

I started buying Mayfair and Men Only from 1989. I found the fact that Mayfair celebrated women’s breasts and bodies enjoyable and like a step up from Page 3. Men Only catered for the missing element of the pretty lady who’s willing to spread her legs, which I liked too. I then went on to by Club Int and Men’s World both of which I enjoyed immensely. I’ve dabbled in a few Fiestas, Escorts and Razzles but didn’t find them as stimulating, so the ‘classier’ style was more appealing. Sadly I’ve gotten rid of my old collections through the years so am building it up again slowly but surely.

I didn't actually buy porn mags! I was attracted to the entire idea of nudism, so Health & Efficiency was my go-to mag rather than Playboy, Penthouse or whatever.

Of course, I'd see friends' collections of mags, and my preference amongst them was always the Readers Wives section because the women seemed real, whereas the models in other magazines seemed a bit out of reach.

You could always see that a Readers Wife was, in the context of meeting any of them in real life, definitely a possibility. The ones who appeared in Playboy, not so much (and indeed, some of the ones in Playboy, not getting touched, even using yours...the likes of Pamela Anderson and Jenny McCarthy never held any appeal to me).

Then - Mostly Playboy, Penthouse and Mayfair, with occasional other titles.

Now - None. The Internet is my source now.
