I don't know what Americans think, but Russian & Chinese leaders have noticed all this. Many others too
Well it might be due to the fact that here is a man who did not come up through the "good ol' boy network of politics" and is now learning the political realities the hard way???
I am watching my varied Sunday political shows and even those to the left are saying that the 100 day thing is unrealistic and not a good judge of a POTUS's performance.

I thought his instincts were good with some topics. Especially that America should concentrate on itself, and not interfere with others who really don't need their infernal "interests" that really mean wealth extraction from affected countries and not creating wealth of their own

Which begs the question:If he does not know what he is doing how the fuck is he going to do it? He is a guy with no experience dealing with these guys in this arena. Only time these guys did anything for him was when he had cash in hand. What is he going to do when problems arise like the looming stock market crash? A competent person would have things planned out including contingencies for a lot of these things, but do you get that impression? I swear he is like a virgin trying to turn out a working girl...

We might remember 8 years ago when those who voted for Barack Obama soon became disenchanted with the direction he took. Political reality is that the most important task any POTUS has is to preserve the power of the presidency. Many of us would like to see the United States get out of the war business, but as Commander in Chief the president loses power when the military is reduced. Similarly, the whole house of cards that comprises the U.S. network of foreign relations also requires a delicate balance. Trump is now finding out how much he didn't know about trade, tax policy, the U.S. Constitution, working with Congress, healthcare reform, and everything else.

The initial tax reform proposals are pretty frightening. Steve Mnuchin and Gary Cohn should know better, but the temptation to give themselves a financial windfall may be too great. Corporate taxes are in need of reform. without question, but with corporate profits high and consumers struggling, taking money out of the hands of workers and the middle class would throw the country into recession. We are already seeing the anticipated cyclic downturn. Her is another question Do you really want eliminate the deduction for state and local taxes? It seems like a good idea until one realizes that the 10 states with high state taxes generate over 40% of U.S. GDP and California, Illinois, Minnesota, New York, and New Jersey all contribute more in federal tax receipts than they receive back in federal spending.

We already know that Congressmen don't understand economics. Now, we have a POTUS who managed to go bankrupt several times while running casinos. His rhetoric seems to indicate that he doesn't understand basic supply and demand equations. The Republican Party has promised that tax cuts would pay for themselves via increased economic growth for the last 37 years, but all we have gotten is ballooning deficits and increasing economic inequality. (Sorry, too many Econ courses and years spent as a "controller," which has to be the most misleading job title ever created.)

Maybe some of Trump's *experts* will end up being forced out because of this. I've never understood how anyone can be allowed a 'waiver' when it comes to ethics.

Ethics Rules Waivers for Trump's Team to Get Federal Scrutiny

Quote:
The White House has previously indicated it didn’t believe OGE’s authority extended to its appointees. In a Feb. 28 letter to Shaub indicating that senior counselor Kellyanne Conway would not be disciplined for promoting Ivanka Trump’s clothing line in an appearance on Fox News Channel in February, White House deputy counsel Stefan Passantino said that “many regulations promulgated by the Office of Government Ethics (“OGE”) do not apply to employees of the Executive Office of the President.”
In a response, Shaub wrote, “The assertion is incorrect, and the letter cites no legal basis for it.”

Default The only one worse.

So Andrew Jackson was a "tough guy with a big heart" who could have stopped the Civil War?

In his admiration for Jackson is Trump forgetting all that "Ol' Hickory" really was. He was a slave-owner and a shamelessly corrupt self-promoter who had his own likeness installed to replace the original figurehead of the USS Constitution. His claim to fame, the Battle of New Orleans, was so badly bungled by the British forces that it was a battle impossible for Jackson to lose, and was, taken in context, meaningless since it took place weeks after the War of 1812 had ended. Most importantly, Jackson was a fucking war-criminal who enslaved free-blacks, and executed native and white prisoners during the illegal invasion of Florida and the Seminole Wars.
Jackson was, as I may have written earlier, the only person worse than Donald Trump to be elected President.

Begs the question: is Trump's admiration for Jackson ignorant, baffling, or just obvious?

Ignorant. Jackson died in 1845, 16 years before the Civil War commenced.

Default Donald Trump: I would be honoured to meet Kim Jong-un

US President Donald Trump has said he would be "honoured" to meet North Korean leader Kim Jong-un, in the right circumstances.

"If it would be appropriate for me to meet with him, I would - absolutely. I would be honoured to do it," he told news organisation Bloomberg on Monday.

The previous day he described Mr Kim as a "pretty smart cookie".

The comments come amid escalating tensions over North Korea's nuclear programme.
