He appeared as himself in Star Trek TNG playing cards with Albert Eistein and in The Simpsons but I remember a reasonable facsimile of him appeared in an episode of 'Dexter's Laboratory' where young boy genius Dexter wins a prize to meet the famous Professor Hawk who hovers around in a flying saucer-type wheelchair and even has his own song. Obviously inspired by Steven Hawking and only two years ago he appeared in a Comic Relief sketch AND filmed a special sequence about the universe with Professor Brian Cox(he ran him over on his wheelchair) which was brilliant. I also believe he appeared at the Monty Python show because Eric Idle did his special song about the Universe which has appeared in the film The Meaning of Life.
Greatest thinker and scientist of the 20th century and now at peace. If you've not seen Eddie Redmayne as him in The Theory of Everything I urge you to see it. |

I don't know if I can agree with Greenman here because the 20th century has spawned many great minds but Stephen Hawking was among them.
He once said that he's not afraid of death but that he's not in a hurry either. Despite his condition and his doctors' fatalist prediction, Mr. Hawking led a long and productive life. His knowledge and wit will be missed. The Star Trek TNG episode in which he plays poker against a touchy Isaac Newton, Albert Einstein and Data is one of my favorites. It's the opening scene of "The Descent - Part I", the final episode of S6 in which Data is seduced to the dark side by his brother Lore. Rest in peace, Professor Hawking. |

Stephen Hawking
His autobiography was called
"Standing on the shoulders of giants". I think we can accept he is now one of the giants... 'We are all in the gutter, but some choose to look up to the stars' |

Jim Bowen and Stephen Hawking? Not a "great. lovely, smashing, super" day for me.
I wrote to Jim a couple of months ago, wishing him well and got a short, but warm reply. I'd said that the other half couldn't understand why I sat up late at night watching repeats of Bullseye; I said it was to watch a master at work, who laughed with the contestants, not at them. And to see people win a speedboat. |

RIP Stephen Hawking
An academic giant, and proof that with a strong will and determination we can overcome problems that most of us would struggle to even comprehend. From The Big Bang Theory https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wlrOKpQ6UBI I seriously doubt whether I would have had been as brave as he was.
