Me, I'm just hoping that's it's not the Liberal landslide that the polls are predicting.
Oh and that The Greens get control of the Senate.
At least that's how I'll be voting.

For some reason I thought that thered been a PM in the last couple of years who was born in Britain, but I think it may have been an opposition leader.

However, the 4th Australian PM (Sir George Reid) was born in Scotland. And Chris Watson (the third) was born in Chile!!

Julia Gillard was born in Barry, Wales.

He was. And Chris Watson was the first prime minister in the world from the labour movement.

Rudd exposed himself for what he is, It's all about him, him and him.
And Bill Shorten, the idiot who created the entire mess apart from Rudd,

I hope it's good riddance too Rudd and he resigns some time next week as an MP, assuming he wins his seat, and Shorten, who had inspiration as a future PM... It'll never happen now after showing his Trade Union Leader background, a typical loudmouth backstabber who'll do whatever it takes too get power, only it all backfired, sunshine.

I don't know how many times I've voted in Federal, State and local elections, Tomorrow is the first time I'm actually looking forward too it

I actually did go looking for an appropriate porn mag cover for Rudd, Shorten, Gillard, Swan et al but numerous forum searches for "asshole", "boobs", "cocksuckers" didn't return a result that would be as easy to mock up as the Hockey/Abbott "New Cunts". Don't think there was ever a mag called "Old Cunts".

The simple answer is..... Nothing of value

The Labor Party has lost power, at this stage not quite as bad as expected, but it is a bad defeat, and convincing win too The Liberals

So what exactly did the Labor Party do too fuck up ???
I was just watching Bob Hawke, for those who don't know of him, Bob was an ex high ranking union official, He became the Labor Party Prime Minister in 1983 and left office in 1992 ??? , anyway, he's a highly respected Australian, In fact highly respected by both sides of politics and probably most Aussies. Ones who's opinion and advise will always be heard. His saying was "A party that can't govern itself can't govern the country". He's been very critical of the government that has just been kicked out of office.

But that's what happened, the past 6 years of Labor Party office was a joke, it all seemed about power and who'll be at the top, not policy. When Rudd was elected in December 07, I reluctantly voted for The Labor Party, Aussies will know what I'm talking about now... I voted for them becuase of the Liberal Party's Industrial Relations Laws. They went a bit too far too the right for anybodies liking. They lost the election on that policy alone, and they have learned from that, those laws are gone and doubt they will ever be back. But during the 07 election there was a slogan the Labor Party used, Kevin 07, that's why I was reluctant, that alone seemed more that it was about him rather than the country or his party. And it proved right, after a while, he was making decisions, stupid ones, without consultation or any real process. So his own party booted him out. Enter Julia She made the biggest mistake of forming a minority government with the Greens at the 2010 election just too retain power, it all went downhill from there. In the few years she was PM, Rudd was in the background destabilizing the Party, that's all he did, instead of thinking about the country or policy, his priority was becoming PM again.

In the past 5 weeks or so during the election campaign, Rudd seemed to be at it again, focusing on himself and attacking Liberal Party policy.. that played right into the Liberal Party victory, most of the talk was about Liberal Party policy, very little about Labor Party policy. Nobody really knew who would be leader with them, or their policies for that matter.

It's about time they got back too the type of party that Bob Hawke ran and stop thinking of ways too retain power with crap what's the flavor of the month policy, Time too think long term like the Liberals do rather than the crap we've seen the last six years.

Loser

Winner

Abbott, for the most part ran an almost faultless campaign, in fact, when he lost the election in 2010, he's only been focused, mostly, on Party policy and getting their message across, hence today's result... I wish them well

I'm confused by this and was wondering whether any Australians could explain this. Why does the Australian Labor Party spell 'Labor' the American way. In the UK we have the Labour Party - spelt the British way by adding the letter 'u'.

As far as I'm aware Australians spell other words the in the same way we do in the UK, ie, favour, flavour, neighbour, amour, harbour, colour, valour, etc. So why not for spelling Labour?

Good question. Wiki claims O'Malley was a spelling reform "enthusiast".
