History will remember President Trump for his choices of whom he serves and whom he will cast out from fair consideration. If he makes fair and honest choices he might achieve good and valid changes; and after all it is not the mark of success from previous administrations that Mr Trump has won and the more-of-the-same candidate has been beaten. No amount of quibbling and of suddenly discovering that they don't like how the US constitution is written can get the Democrats around the point that they lost to one of the worst Republican tickets in living memory. That is the bottom line. So here we now are, and we have no choice except to watch the story unfold. No matter how badly Mr Trump governs, my first port of reproach shall be the Democrats and their fraudulent nomination of a candidate the American people quite justifiably refused to accept.

History may well condemn Donald Trump but it sure as Hell ought to condemn Hillary Clinton and Deborah Wasserman-Schultz.

Yes I heard President Trump say: America first.

But being a cynic, I'll wait and see whether he delivers on that pledge, or whether I'll be filing that phrase alongside "Better Together" (a forgettable Remain in EU slogan), "Take Back Control", "Brexit means Brexit", "Red, white and blue Brexit" and that golden oldie from 2007: "British jobs for British workers".

IMO only one standard should be used when judging ALL politicians (thanks "MegaForce"):

But I digress - my point was that for Trump to pontificate about the media reporting of the crowd size at his inauguration on his first full day, didn't make him look Presidential. It made him look petty.

But hey - Trump is the Prez now, so he's going to do things his way.

Because of the position he holds, this con man will have to be treated gingerly by other world leaders. On a personal level I suspect they will see him as the ignorant man-child that he is. I suppose one would have expected a backlash against Obama rule and the democratic party's obsessiveness with identity politics and a general disdain for blue collar America, but to have this obscene and infantile narcissist be the instrument of that backlash carries heavy consequences for the country and indeed the world at large. For me it is not about policy with Trump...though I disagree with him on pretty much everything. Its him. He is not fit for the office. He is the classic demagogue that appeals to the basest of our natures. To anyone who gives a single damn about democracy, this should be a time of great apprehension.

If Trump starts making excuses I'll start to turn against him because I've heard all the excuses I can stomach the last eight years.People making excuses can't be very sharp because an excuse is an admission of failure.Trump has dealt with people all over the world his whole life, something Obama didn't do and it showed,he never made a deal,he gave in before they ever started talking, something Carter was good at too.I think and hope Trump will make good deals because it will embarrass him if he can't.That's one of the things that makes him different from what we've had,he can be embarrassed.

Russian president Vladimir Putin will call newly sworn-in President Trump in the coming days, a Kremlin spokesman said early Saturday.

Hmmm....

SCENE: The White House

Receptionist: President Trump? I have President Vladimir Putin on line #3.
President Trump: Great - put him through.
President Putin: Hello. Is that President Donald Trump?
President Trump: This is he.
President Putin: Why don't you pass the time by playing a little solitaire?

A dignified silence would be better but He can't keep silent and He has little in the way of dignity..

It wouldn't take the Liberal media ten days to completely ruin him if he sat back and said nothing.I think you'll see a major change in the media in the next four years also because the people have had enough of them too.

This is an era of cultural and technological change as well as political change. Mr Trump has explained that he uses Twitter because it cannot be spun against him by third parties. The risk he takes is the same risk every live performer takes, especially if performing off-the-cuff and without a script. But at least the mistakes he makes will be genuinely his own and will not have been imposed on him by misrepresentation and the bias of others.

I saw a Young Turks article which shed a sidelight on this matter. Cenk Uygur, their co-host (the other main anchor being Anna Kasparian) was intriguingly detached and objective about the victory of Donald Trump, even though he hates the man and doesn't try to pretend otherwise. There seemed to be a level on which he has more respect (a lot more respect) for Mr Trump than for Mrs Clinton. Here's why.

The Young Turks
is an openly progressive channel and makes no bones about it; with them, in terms of political bias, what you see is what you get. The point Mr Uygur made is that their viewer demographic should have been a priority target for the Democrats, but in fact the Democrats did not advertise or make any political broadcasts on TYT at all, none whatsoever. They had a lot of money to spend and they used this as economic power to try to dictate the stance of the media: TYT preferred to run stories which were harshly critical of Mrs Clinton and it was made clear that they were being deprived of advertising revenue by the Democrats for exactly this reason. I feel respect for Mr Uygur on this matter. He defied pressure to spin the news in favour of a party with a lot of lettuce to offer because he preferred to tell it like he sees it. He didn't try very hard to conceal his glee that the Democrats came badly unstuck and did point out that they preferred to try and fail to blackmail his channel than to accept his editorial independence and to advertise anyway, and take an opportunity to communicate with an important progressive-leaning viewer audience.

Channels such as CNN and MSNBC and Fox News can now be outflanked by The Young Turks and others. They are no longer the gatekeepers between the facts and the US viewing public. They are in danger because their sleight of hand has failed; a lot of viewers no longer trust them.
