Yes I noticed that was missing, yet it turned up at the end of Casino Royale. Thinking about it though it wasn't in the first one Doctor No was it, only a series of moving coloured dots with the Monty Norman theme. Maybe now Craig's Bond is established it might be reinstated in the next one.

Then they put it in the end of Casino Royale because Bond was a 00. They also put it at the end of Quantum of Solace because Bond has found himself and he has gotten rid of his Vesper demons so he is who he is: James Bond 007, British Secret Service, Licensed to Kill Therefore it should had been at the beginning of Skyfall but noooooo.... those bastards Babs Broccoli and Mikey Wilson! |

Anyway since no one chimed in, here is my theory on Patrice: Because of Silva's hacking of the MI6 computers, he knows that Patrice's ID has been discovered, that Bond knows exactly what he looks like from the train fight and that Bond is after him. So, the hit on the art buyer is an elaborate set up, figuring that they will rat him out to the police for the murder or Bond will take him out first as they can't really use him anymore since his ID is known. This doesn't explain why the payoff money is still at the Casino when Bond claims it, but it's a start.

Is it? Been ages since I've seen Dr No-all of months ago when it was shown for the last time on ITV and I think I missed the opening.

Yes, Connery didn't do the gun barrel sequence in Dr. No, From Russia With Love and Goldfinger.
It was Bob Simmons in all 3. Thunderball was the first time the actual actor who played James Bond did the gun barrel sequence and it was also the first time it turned from a white circle into the pre-credit opening sequence. |

Sam Mendes has said that he wanted the gunbarrel at the start of Skyfall, but with the opening shot of the film being Bond walking down the corridor it didn't work having it there so they reluctantly moved it to the end.

"Skyfall," the 23rd James Bond adventure, has surpassed $1 billion at the worldwide box office. Jeff Blake, chairman of worldwide marketing and distribution for Sony Pictures and Gary Barber, MGM's chairman and chief executive, made the announcement Sunday. The film, from Albert R. Broccoli's EON Productions, Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Studios, and Sony Pictures Entertainment, is the most successful Bond film of all time, even surpassing the record for the Highest earning Bond film, previously held by THUNDERBALL for 47 years. It is also the highest-grossing film at the worldwide box office in Sony Pictures history. Skyfall," starring Daniel Craig as 007, took in $4.6 million this weekend in North America for a total of $289.6 million. Overseas, the film grossed $10.3 million for an international total to date of $710.6 million and a worldwide total exceeding $1 billion and growing. It has yet to play China, where it will open on Jan. 21. SKYFALL is only the third 2D movie to pass $700 million overseas. SKYFALL has sold more tickets in the US than: -Any X-Men film -Any Lethal Weapon film -Any Clint Eastwood film -Any Star Trek film -Any Bourne film -Any movie with Vin Diesel in a starring role Now it looks like even THE HOBBIT won't out-gross it, which would make it the first time that Bond has lead the seasonal box office since we've been able to keep track of such things. |

Good choice but look at who it is up against - I will be very surprised if Skyfall beats the likes of Les Miserables & Lincoln to name but two of the ten shortlisted films. It would be great if it did, but James Bond films have never been considered for top prizes especially film of the year-yes they win Oscars/Baftas for craft and costume etc and in the past stuntwork but never the really BIG prize of Best Film.
