Did you know that the phrase ''The whole nine yards'' refers to the length of the bullets that were carried in P51 Mustang fighters in WWII, so give ''to give the whole nine yards'' meant to use all your bullets on one opponent.

There are more square inches in a square mile than there are seconds in a century.

Loch Ness is so long and deep, the entire population of the world could fit in it twice over.

Arnold George Dorsey changed his name to Engelbert Humperdinck.

Jethro Tull was born in Basildon, Berkshire March 30 , 1674 and invented or improved many farm implements and practices still used today.

Esref Armagan a painter of enormous talent, was born without eyes.
Please, do yourself a favour and check out his paintings:

How do you explain colours to someone who can't see? His amazing talent leaves me shaking my head.

But according to most scientists' opinion there couldn't be enough food for a population of living dinosaurs in it? Strange logic ...

Default The White House

Did you that 1600 Pennsylvannia Avenue, now known to the world as The White House, (the world's most famous tied cottage) was once simply called the Executive Mansion. However, after the War of Independence 1776-1783, there was a rematch which history records as the War of 1812.

In this war, there was some nasty skirmishing in Ontario and the Great Lakes- the American undeclared war aim was to conquer Canada. But though strong on land the Americans did not control the sea, and the British made numerous raids, one of which briefly sailed up the Potomac and captured Washington DC. In a fairly petulent display, before retreating from superior American forces, the redcoats piled all President Madison's furniture in the large reception lobby and got careless with some matches.

The intention was to raze the building to the ground, The inside was gutted and the roof too, but this classical Georgian building was so well built that the walls were undamaged. They rebuilt it. But there was no cleaning off the black stains from the walls (no sand-blasting in those days) so President Madison, a sensible man, had the whole building painted white, and it came up a treat.

The same redcoats pretty much got their comeuppance at the Battle of New Orleans, using line of battle tactics designed for fighting ill trained armies using muskets, against Louisiana backwoods militia who had been shooting squirrels at long range with their rifles since they were four years old. Peace had already been signed: even the victorious militia were thoroughly underwhelmed when they found out it was all unnecesssary.

'HMS Pinafore' is an anagram of 'Name for Ship'
Gas doesn't smell; the odour is impregnated artificially so you can smell a leak.
Mortgages were arranged in Egyptian times.

I must get out more.

A fagot is a bundle of twigs and branches to be used in a fire.

The White House was actually gray before it was burned down during the War of 1812.

Alexander Graham Bell founded the National Geographic Society.

A Scottish built luxury liner was found buried in a sand dune in the Namibian desert.

If you traveled at the speed of light for one year everyone on Earth would have aged 100 years.

And last but certainly not least:
A man named David Icke has sold millions of books extolling his view that the Earth is run by a race of lizard - human hybrids!!!!!!

Where the heck are these people when I have something to sell?
