Stole mine from a Monty Python movie character in "The Life of Brian".
...I know, I know if the character was named "Little-Dickus" I won't have stole it.

"Hugh Jampton" was a bit part character in the Goon Show.

Spike Milligan wrote the show in the 1950's when the BBC's "Little Green Book" was still the reference that writers and producers had to abide by to avoid offending the radio listeners.

It was seen as a challenge and scriptwriters would try to sneak material past the censors in a form that the audience would understand but that would go over the head of "Disgusted of Tunbridge Wells"

"Hampton Wick" is Cockney rhyming slang for "prick" ( a UK slang term for a penis )

Thus "Hugh Jampton" = huge Hampton Wick = huge penis :-)

I grew up listening to replays of old Goon Shows on Canadian Radio -
a childhood education in dialects and surrealism.
Without The Goons - no Beatles and no Python.
And that's no joke!

I chose mine because I am a cheeky monkey. And the Avatar I chose of Catweazle (the 12th Century wizard who ended up trapped in the UK 70s) because the image encapulates what all of us on this site are doing

My name is Dave and I used to live in Chadwell St Mary - the posh end of Tilbury hence the csm. Have never bothered to change it even though I've moved about a lot since then.
