On the right is Lawyer Amal Clooney. Next to Mrs Clooney is her client Nadia Murad, a human rights activist who survived being raped and enslaved by Daesh terrorists (Ms Murad testified to Congress last year about the horrors of living under Daesh).

Mrs Clooney has urged the UN to act against Daesh by backing a UK-led investigation into the group's atrocities in Iraq.

Speaking at the UN, Mrs Clooney said Daesh had declared it will "destroy" the country's Yazidi ethnic group through murder, rape and forced conversions.

The British-Lebanese human rights lawyer said Daesh was also attacking Christians, and Shia and Sunni Muslims.

Mrs Clooney, who is based in London, accused the UN of "inaction".

She said: "The UN was created as the world's way of saying 'never again' to the genocide perpetrated by the Nazis.

"And yet here we are, 70 years later, discussing the UN's inaction in the face of a genocide that we all know about, and that is ongoing."

The UK is drafting a Security Council resolution to establish a UN investigation, but Mrs Clooney said the Iraqi government needs to send a letter formally requesting the inquiry before the 15-member council can vote.

Mrs Clooney and Ms Murad were both on Fareed Zakaria GPS (CNN) earlier about their attempts to get Daesh to answer for their crimes in an international court of law.
But both admitted this process could take a long time - the UN are still investigating the Khmer Rouge's crimes against humanity....

What's the point? We're currently trying to blow the lot of them into the next world. What could an investigation possibly achieve? Even if they could identify individuals they will either be dead or beyond anyone's reach other than the ones already attacking them.

While I don't wish to cast aspersions this seems to have more to do with further fueling the victim/human rights industry so beloved of lawyers, since it generates huge amounts of work and gets huge amounts of public money heading their way.

From the CNN interview last night, the pair wanted to put Daesh on trial for their numerous crimes, which is laudable.
But if the UN are still working on crimes committed by the Khmer Rouge, then I don't hold much hope on any developments in the immediate future...

The 'radical' muslims will always be able to turn to the koran and point to any passages that they say either gives them the right, or even commands them to do so and they can counter any argument we make against that simply by saying "Well they would say tha wouldn't they? They are 'kuffirs' and are enemies of allah."

The only people who can stop the 'radical' muslims are the 'moderate' muslims, and I'm not sure how many 'moderate' muslims would not like to see the world go islamic, the only real question being what 'method' would they be prepared to use?

I have only had conversations with Muslims here in the United States. Some are arrogant jerks who think all of infidels need to embrace the words of the Prophet and submit to Allah post haste. Mostly, they don't even deign to have such discussions with infidels like myself. (They remind me of those mean and shriveled old nuns that insisted that all the Buddhists, Hindus, Jews, Muslims, and Protestants were indeed going to burn in hell forever. The hottest fires were reserved for the Protestants.) However, there are many educated Muslims who absolutely despise the tyranny of the imams and mullahs and really do want to see the Muslim world embrace democracy, free inquiry, and religious tolerance. They agree that if Islam is to attract Western converts, it must demonstrate a superior way of life among its adherents. Then, there are many "Muslims" like the "Christmas and Easter" Catholics, that try to avoid having their nominal religion interfere with their lives.

Functionally, the only difference between adherents to Islam (aka Muslims), and adherents to the KKK or NAZI ideologies are:
1. The adherents to Islam have butchered many, many more people than either the KKK or the neo-NAZIs have in the last few decades, and
2. The KKK and the neo-NAZIs don't have apologists pointing to KKK members or neo-NAZIs who are innocent of any crime and saying "See, not all KKK or neo-NAZIs are bad!!!"

The apologists for Islam are no different than the apologists for neo-NAZIs or the KKK.
