Then, about 15 years ago, it was reported on several websites that she had committed suicide (by shooting herself in the chest) in September 1969, at age 23. Now it turns out that confusion about her real name, combined with PBOY's practice of publishing false names and backgrounds for many of its models (cf. Ashlyn Martin, Maria McBane), led the world to mistake Sue Williams for an actress named Karen Sue Hamilton, who did commit suicide.
