I wonder if a moderator can help me.

I posted a request for a film ID in one of the sections.

I then tried to reply to my own post giving some further info that might help others identify the film.

However, it is telling me that I do not have permission to do this.

Has my account been suspended for some transgression?

Is it bad etiquette for your first post to be a request for info?

I'd appreciate some direction please.

Thanks and apologies if I've not followed protocol.

If your account had been suspended then you'd not have been able to make this post.

Likely what happened is that you made the post in the wrong section & it was binned; hence why you cannot access it, as only Mods have that ability. Or like you said, for most requests you've had to have made some contribution first; gaining 100 'thanks' usually.

As so often posted, the simplest way to earn these 'thanks' is to post in the GD&N section. 'General Discussion & News' can be found in the second section on main page. Once you've reached whatever target you need then you'll find you can post requests; in the correct section of course. Happy posting.

NB - Added 1x Thanks to get you started.

Thanks for your reply. How do I see how many thanks I have received?

Also did no one answer my question in the ID section because no one knew the answer or could people not reply due to me not having 100 thanks?

Try looking to the left, under your name? Where it says "thanked"...!

You have been Thanked 13 times in 3 posts thus far. But you've still not made any thanks to anyone else.... Which would've been nice considering I took the time to reply to you?

As I said, if your post got removed then it wouldn't be there for anyone to see or reply to.

MODS - Can one of you guys please take a few moments to investigate this when you have the time?

You must have 150 thanks received to make a request in Classic Movies. Your original post was removed because you do not have the required thanks received.

I'm sorry to be so dense but I can't see anything under my name about being thanked. What am I doing wrong?

I can't see how many thanks I have? What am I doing wrong?

Should I be able to see this under my name where I have made a post or when I click on my name? Either way it doesn't appear to be there.

I also don't have a thumbs up sign.

I'm a ceasing the site via my IPad and IPhone but can not see the info on either.

Again apologies for wasting people's time but your help is much appreciated.

I think you're looking at the wrong place.... You're looking in your USER CP, not the info next to these actual posts on this thread.

Here is where it shows you your 'thanks'

And this is where you find the 'thank's button to do so to those whose posts you like...

If this is still passing you by, then I for one am giving up....
