Songs I do not 'get' don't make me cringe, they just leave me cold.

There are quite a few painfully cringy xmas songs, e.g. Boney M's "Mary's boychild", or Johnny Mathis "When a child is born" (or some such). Interestingly, the melody of the latter was released with entirely different lyrics by Michael Holm in Germany (similarly horrible, but not quite as bad IMHO), and that was parody-covered by Otto Waalkes, which is the only half-decent version of the song.

Speaking of Germany, the list of cringe-worthy song is endless. The Schlager stuff from the early 1970s is particularly bad, because once in a while there was a good song amongst the lot that made the others sound so much worse. But then one day Modern Talking arrived, and they achieved where Hitler failed: I was finally ashamed to be a German.

I have a 14 year old so have to put up with a LOT of god-awful songs but I draw the line at ANYTHING by Adam Lambert.... that grating pitchy fucking scream in every one of his songs is enough to cause automatic station change. Even my 14 year old realises it and goes to another station before I get the chance, because he knows I'm going to classic rock if I get there first.
