I have quite a few cd's in my collection. No idea the amount. Mostly 80's and 90's, a couple of best of's etc. Own the purple Jimi hendrix Experience box set i got for christmas ages ago. BBC sessions. Cream, Joy Division, New Order. Some Cd's i hardly ever play. Mostly just buy the odd Mp3 from Amazon now but occasionly use a marketplace seller also.

Thumbs up

I have over 700 cd's, but they are all Classical music and Opera. I have 150 discs of music of Antonio Vivaldi alone. I also have music sets: A 35 disc set of all 555 of Domenico Scarlatti's Harpsichord Sonatas, all of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart's symphonies, all 106 symphonies by Joseph Haydn and so on. I also have 10 discs of all the opera arias as sung by the man who I consider to be the greatest voice in history, none other than the magnificent Swedish tenor Jussi Bjoerling. He died in 1956.

I no longer own any CDs, although I do have all my music files backed up on DVDs, so I'm not sure if that counts?

I only have about fifty. If I specifically want an album as something to have and keep as well as the songs on it, then I'll buy the CD but I usually just download what I want from the internet these days and store the tracks as mp3s on my computer. I haven't bought a CD for many years and can't really see myself doing so again as I have just about all the music I like and want either in CD or mp3 form.
I sometimes make my own playable CDs with mixed tracks to listen to in the car or whatever.

Default Lost Count!

I imagine i probably have 750 - 800 CDs perhaps + about 150 - 200 Mini Discs & a few downloads as MP3s or whatever so probably over 1000 albums all in all. Space is becoming a real problem! I may have to invest in folders to house the discs & ditch the boxes sooner or later - or quell my desire for new music!

I probably have about 2,000 compact discs. I used to work for a record company. Having said that, they are all boxed up from when I moved in 2007. They remained boxed up and then were moved again to this location in 2011. Most will likely never see the light of day again until I get rid of them. That will likely happen at the next move. I am not moving those boxes again.

I did the same thing with my vinyl. I lugged a record collection around that I never played and finally said "enough". Once compact disc came out I could never suffer through the pops, ticks and rumble of vinyl. Sold all the vinyl on Craigslist in one pop. I did keep several dozen of the album jackets for their artistic value.

About 15 years ago I went through and converted most of my compact discs to digital. All of my music is in mp3 format now. All on my computer which is connected to my stereo. That is how I have listened to music for the last 15 years or so. I currently have about 40,000 songs that take up about 300GB. I can (and do) carry my entire music collection on a USB drive about the size of a deck of cards. I love mp3's and will never go back to physical music formats.

I´ve got about 600-700 CD's,and I´m still buying a few every year.

I gave away 200-300 to a local secondhand recordstore a couple of years ago.

I also have about 500 LP's,and 400 cassettetapes.

Progressiverock, classic hardrock and AOR-rock mostly, but a lot of different stuff.

I play CD's,LP's and my old cassettetapes more or less every day.

I´m oldschool,period.No downloads,mp3,digital,just my old hifi equipment.

About 3500 CDs, 2000 or so are classical and about 1500 of those are Bach. I've also got about 1000 vinyl albums and 500 or so 12" singles, plus a bunch of stuff on reel-to-reel and minidisc. I've listened to them all, bar some of the Kantaten.

Space is becoming a problem so I've been backing them up to DVD and I've started using a D-link DNS-320L as an ITunes Server and an M-audio Audiophile card in the PC attached to my hi-fi. THe D-link has two 3TB WD drives set up as a Raid-1 pair. I've put about half of my music onto it and it's about 2/3 full. It would play for over a year before it repeats.

I'd never buy from Amazon or the Itunes Store as their mp3 offerings are rarely over 192kbps, and even my old ears can tell the difference.
