Hostel Part II: Cannibal Scene
The Italian Cannibal (Ruggero Deodato) takes great pleasure both eating Miroslav (Stanislav Ianevski) and keeping him awake

Saw, Ken Park, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Man bites dog, 13 Tzameti,Triangle (the one with Melissa George), and Alien the 8th passenger. Of course, i forgot to mention Pasolini's "Salo ou les 120 Journées de Sodome", the only film where i left the cinema before the movie ended.
PS : I even found the english version of Triangle for you my fellow VEF members. Should be ok to post it because it's free access on YT. But please mods, delete it if it's not right to post it. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fOIc8h1vLhk Last edited by Yomino; April 29th, 2019 at 12:07 PM.. |

Everything is relative. Whilst I agree with many of the other commentators on here in respect of their most disturbing films, here's one that hasn't been mentioned.
Vampyr (1932) If there were a DPP39 (Video Nasty) list in 1932, this would undoubtedly made it at No.1 Ok, it's very tame by today's standards, but some of the dream, or should that be, nightmare sequences in it are still quite disturbing. Other than that Island of Death (1976) that did make on the DPP39. It's not a great film, but there are some bizarre scenes and quite a bit of nudity too. |

A few I find unsettling:
1. Midnight Express--based on the true story of an American imprisoned in Turkey for smuggling hashish. 2. Natural Born Killers--Oliver Stone's foray into the psychotic minds of a serial killer couple. 3. Jacob's Ladder--Based on disputed claims of US drug experiments during the Vietnam War, a vet tries to make sense of his visions and memories and stumbles upon something horrific. 4. Eraserhead--Surreal B+W character study into the life and love? of a timid and dark loner. 5. Dead Presidents-- A Vietnam vet returns to his life in the inner city to find things have changed for the worse...only to frustratingly involve himself with a gang of bank robbers.

Titicut Follies
View In Archives: https://archive.org/details/TiticutFolliesF30XaZoo Back in 1967, documentary filmmaker Frederick Wiseman got the idea to do a film about a talent show that takes place in Massachusetts' Bridgewater State Hospital...an asylum for the criminally insane. He and his crew of experienced film workers began shooting at the hospital after obtaining full permissions from the more sane inmates and the warden. The film was not well-received by the State, as lawsuits and judicial gag orders kept the movie from distribution until the 1990s...this following a huge lawsuit initiated by the relatives of some inmates who were abused during their stays there. The film begins innocently enough...albeit surreal in nature...as we see a musical performance in costume by inmates. But this light-heartedness is soon replaced by a more sullen revelation of just what a horror it was being an inmate at the hospital. Replacing the talent show is actual film footage showing the abusive and often life-threatening ways guards and staff treat the residents. Acts that deprived them of their dignity and humanity. Some of the more stable residents are interviewed...some of the harder cases you just plain pity. The abject torture that inmates suffered will leave your head spinning at the end. Be prepared. This is not for the faint of heart. B-

Was it a real snuff "film"? There's one that comes to mind but not sure if the same one as you're meaning.
