Brit vs Yank vs Aussie slang
I have read TONS of posts on this forum, and noticed the wild disparity of slang between Brit and Yank slang. I'd really love to have a forum for all of us English speakers to trot out our various slang......
I'll start with this- Pound sand (up yer ass) American. |

The dog's bollocks, or some times just the dogs. Is English slang for excellent or the best as in:
"They are of the opinion that, when it comes to Italian opera, Pavarotti is the dog's bollocks." Oh in case you didn't know bollocks are testicles.

"A couple of cans short of a six pack" "His cheese done slipped off the cracker" "The elevator doesn't stop at all floors" And can somebody answer this age-old question: Who is "Jack The Lad" ? Is he related to "Mary and Her Four Daughters" ? |

A couple more British sayings:
"The lights are on but no-one's home" "One wave short of a shipwreck" My favourite Aussie ones are "strewth" & "you flamin' gallah" as used in Home & Away alot.
