Various mambers get the hump and decide that asking such a question means the questioner was trying to complain about the place.

He/She is told to either like the place or bog off.

I don't believe that asking if members have likes/dislikes about a forum is just complaining about nothing. It's just a question by someone who is curious about people's opinions.
I sincerely don't think I told Him to like it or bog off,I just expressed My opinion of the site,I think the OP had His Own axe to grind and was seeking corroboration.

There's no harm in an objective discussion about our forum and what we might think it's strengths and weaknesses are. Many of us hae been hanging out here for a long time now; it's our club and we feel protective towards it. Maybe that's both a strength and a weakness:
  • Its a strength because it isn't only a few moderators who watch over it; hundreds of very knowledgeable ordinary members watch over it and help to ward off evil spirits, such as spammers.
  • It is a potential weakness because we might forget that every one of us was once a newbie and be intolerant of newbie mistakes and unwelcoming if we think a newbie doesn't know his place...we need to remember it's his or her club too.
So I don't object to this thread or to the way in which the OP has put his question. If anyone does have an objective observation to make, I'll read it with interest.

One thing to be aware of though is that a moderator is only an ordinary member with a badge and some software tools for enforcing the forum rules.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VqomZQMZQCQ

Moderators do not control what the rules say and we don't make it up as we go along; anything we do is to conform with the rules as they are published. So I might agree with anything said, but that doesn't mean a thing; I'm only a traffic warden.

Simple and straightforward, can't get better than that.I'm afraid changes would just complicate that.If it ain't broke don't fix it.

I haven't actually tried scanning a pic at 1200dpi and then shrinking down. Maybe that would makes the photo dots disappear?
Not sure if you're asking, but there is a whole section devoted to scanning http://vintage-erotica-forum.com/forumdisplay.php?f=46

I found scanning at 1200dpi the only way to scan one particular glossy magazine.

The search function is your friend.

Who does make the Rules? I've asked for clarification on a particular question of interpretation before (the one about the meaning of the word 'blog'), and I got the impression that nobody really knew the answer and nobody had anyone to ask about it either. Are the Rules just handed down on tablets of stone or is there some possibility of feedback?

Question I'm baboozled by some of the comments in reply

If anyone thinks that I was being cruel , do make a direct criticism of me or PM me about it

Clearly Dex (Mr) has something to say (and English does not appear to be his native language) so that could be a hurdle he is struggling with? , but he seemed to be seeking suggestion first, I was trying to tease out a point from his initial post.

He probably just wants to see that we don't get shot for sticking our heads above the parapet, so:

One thing I don't like is the way, in threads that contain images but on a subject rather than about some particular individual, eg Amateurs, Milfs etc, you find badly-formed posts. By which I mean, I'm fine if someone makes a post containing a lot of random photos of different girls; or if they make a post containing photos of one girl, but so large that they have to split it into two; but why, if you have many photos each of a lot of different girls, make a series of posts where the first is about girls A, B and C, the second about C, D and E, the third about E, the fourth about E and F, and so on? Why totally ignore the post structure, as if you were just cutting a piece of string into arbitrary lengths?
