But, but . . . the reason 17 not enough is being Tory does not guarantee carte blanche for her. Why does more Tories necessarily fix this? What will a new Tory stand for? Can you know in 40 days? Maybe another fiasco, not exactly Cameron redux but close. Maybe better.

I think Seany's post #3 is great but don't buy #5. Tell me what other country is "doing well" w/o access. You will find they do have trade access = soft Brexit or are not comparable to UK at all. (China?) Remember, you are disrupting / displacing lots of developed trade. You are prepared to replace it?

What I meant was, according to the 'remainers', Britain would collapse, go bankrupt, no-one would trade with us, we would become an international pariah, there would be civil war, earthquakes, tidal waves etc. if we didn't remain in the EU's 'single market' with 'free movement' of EU citizens.

Only those countries in the EU and in those little 'EU-lite' organisations which are made up of a few European countries have 'full' national access to the EU single market with free movement of EU citizens.

Countries outside the EU do trade with the EU, but at a national scale they don't have access to the EU single market and free movement of EU citizens.

Many of their large companies do have access to the EU single market as they have branches in EU countries, and they employ a lot of EU citizens.

But the truth remains that the majority of the countries in the world do not have access to the single market in the same way that countries inside the EU have, and they don't have free movement of EU citizens.

While many of the countries do have problems, they ain't down to not being in the EU and they ain't down to not having free movement of EU citizens.

Many of the countries are also doing quite well without the level of access to the EU free market that EU countries have, and without free movement of EU citizens.

Of course we want to replace the trade agreements we have with the rest of the world as part of the EU, with trade agreements that we have negotiated on our own behalf. Why would we not want to trade with the world?

Well you'll just have to content yourself with the Labour Mayor of London - pity he's a terrorist sympathiser and a rabid anti-Semite - like most of the modern Labour Party

IMHO ( and most humble it is) this is a way for the Tories to kill off UKIP, their biggest threat and bring their lost right wingers back into the fold. Now that Farage has gone, UKIP are a basket case. Nuttall doesn't have the same appeal and this election will wipe them out.

What never seems to get a mention is the irrelevance of Labour today. It was created to fight for the working class and made a lot of difference. But the working class as Marx and Keir Hardy understood it simply hardly exists any more.We all have bank accounts and holidays abroad, own cars and so on. True there are a lot of people who consider themselves to be working class but they suffer from delusion. And many of the actual present day working class do not vote Labour anyway.

I agree. But would it help if the working class had jobs where they were well paid and could contribute to the economy? Of course it would

But from what I read, the only notable feature about UK's & US's employment is the downturn in employment rate, and an increase of McJobs in those who are still employed

Time your politicians worked on that, instead of ideology they don't like so they can preserve their power

Far as I can see this is all irrelevant anyway as Kim Jong Un and Trump will have blown us all to kingdom come before the end of May anyway.

Sorry to say that I fundamentally disagree with you. It is the term "middle class" that is entirely meaningless. The rest of us sell our labour - many, many people are one lost wage packet away from disaster and only a few away from homelessness.

We may have a few assets in later life, but for the majority of it we are wage-slaves attempting to pay off a mortgage (French for dead pledge).

I would say the Labour party is as relevant as ever but that the triumph of the right is to make us imagine that we are in control and worth something...when really we have only a few peripheral comforts. Bread and circuses.

That is Mrs Thatcher's true legacy.

No, Putin controls them all, as your press tells you

@Mcotokonomidori, If you are referring to various comments made by some labour members about the Isreali Govt. then I will have to disagree about them being anti-semitic. Criticising a Govt. is clearly not the same as being racist against their people.

Hence anyone, anwhere can honestly criticise any Govt. in the whole world without being called racist.

Although for some reason no-one is allowed to criticise the Isreali Govt.
