Vintage PC Porn
I am only an occasional visitor to this site, but I thought one of the many knowledgeable folks here might be able to dredge up these ancient files, or tell me how to do so . . .
Back in the 1980's, there were (at least) two primitive porn "videos" that would run under MS-DOS on the PC's of the day, also I suppose in a DOS Command Line window under Windows. Because disk space was so limited, especially on the 5.25" floppy disks of that era, they weren't true videos, just series of frames that would loop every few seconds. The two I recall were files / models named MANDY and SARA (or possible SARAX) respectively. To "unpack" the file containing them, which was called "SEX", one would type: PKXARC SEX, then to run the extracted files: GRASPRT MANDY or GRASPRT SARA(X). My two questions are: 1. Does anyone know where to find copies of these files, or of equivalent files that would run on a modern computer? 2. These must have been based on frame captures from actual movies, most likely 8mm loops, but they could have been pulled from a full-length feature, I suppose. Does anyone know what the original sources were? Thanks! |

I recall the two or three files you mentioned but they are getting harder to find nowadays. I didn't find the specific ones you mentioned (someone already requested MANDY.GL in the thread) but this site has a handful from that era:

Complicateder and Complicateder
Thanks for the info - it did help me understand the issues much better, but amazingly, there seems to be no easy way to play the *.GL files ("GRASP" animations), even if one had them to play. After significant searching, the only tools I found either no longer existed or do not exist in a form that I can make work under Windows 7. Considering how primitive these early animations were, it's hard to believe that someone hasn't cobbled together some sort of player or converter that can run under Windows.
(Or at least if they have, they have not made it very easy to find) I did find MANDY.GL, but the only copy I found is on USENET, which I do not use, and it's not worth figuring out how to run that for one crappy old porn animation, certainly not when I don't even have a player or a converter for it. Thanks anyway, but I'm giving up on this one, pending the emergence of some additional useful information. |

Hmmm . . . I did download version of GRASP.EXE and GRASPRT.EXE and I ran them in a command line window without success. Not sure how to invoke the compatibility mode you mention -- maybe that is where I am falling short. The only players I could find were either no longer accessible (one out of Finland) or would not run on my machine (the only other one I could find).

Use DOSBox 0.74 and Sea. Some programs do not understand the file system NTFS, then you should run a virtual machine with Windows 98 or DOS and Norton Commander creating disk FAT16. In the BIOS to enable virtualization. Run programs under virtual system.

There is a better way to run the game in DosBox. It is only necessary to make this menu , the right-click . It will have to do edit the registry . Select Start -> Run . In the box , type regedit. This opens a window for editing the registry. Go to :
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\*\Shell\ If not this directory - create . In this folder , create a directory SETCMD1 ( right click on the folder Shell -> create -> section). In the key of "default" write something like Open in DosBox ( For the record button on the right key -> change). Now in the resulting path HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\*\Shell\SETCMD 1 create a directory Command ( same method). As well as listing the key will be the default . Change it to : "c:\dosbox\dosbox.exe"-conf "c:\dosbox\dosbox.conf" "% 1" Where c:\dosbox\ - folder with DosBox. |

On older implementations of *nix there was also xgrasp. Don't know if that is still widely available.
