Just read this on their wjunction thread 13.3.2017

Used to be a time when any number of DMCA notices were simply ignored and content removed by cash reward hosts but now they seem to be changing their ways.

Plenty of posts suggest their cash rewards program is in turmoil so might be simply a way of removing content thats costing them more money that its making.

Hello Everybody!

We’ve got some information to share regarding Depositfiles policies.

There are rumors that the site is eager to ban its users just to avoid paying bonuses. It is not the case. Commonly their team is very secretive, but we have managed to persuade their support crew to comment on their approach to banning accounts. Usually people are banned either due to DMCA or for being terminally nasty.

DMCA violations are handled as follows:

• Your first copyright abuse results in an e-mail warning. You’ll have two weeks to consult the support team regarding the procedures and review your content to avoid any further strikes. They tend to refrain from giving a second strike during such two week term (even if more of your content is taken down).

• Copyright strikes are valid for 90 days. This term is long enough to be sure of your willingness to avoid violations. Any misuse of copyrights after 90 days since the previous strike shall result in a “first” warning.

• There is a maximum of 3 warnings. The 4th strike shall result in blocking of your user account.

As you may see, their policies are quite fair and loyal. You have to be a VERY pestilent copyright violator to get banned. In any case – you can always write a rebuttal and resolve or clarify the situation with Depositfiles support.

P.S. Another way to be disowned – is doing something criminally offensive, nasty or trying to break the site itself. As usually - crime does not pay.

The pirate bay .org mentioned they were doing this on their main site when bit coin mining started taking off

In the scripts was coinhive - it appeared once on the bayfile site

My perenniel problem with free filehosts continues..

I tried to access VEFs "preferred hosts" list just now and got this message:

nbwriter, you do not have permission to access this page. This could be due to one of several reasons:

Your user account may not have sufficient privileges to access this page. Are you trying to edit someone else's post, access administrative features or some other privileged system?
If you are trying to post, the administrator may have disabled your account, or it may be awaiting activation.

Advice welcome... I was attempting to do a "re-up" request for another member who contacted me... I have been able to see the Preferred Hosts List before...

I set up a small account a few years ago and uploaded maybe 6 files 300mb

Forgot all about it and then received an email

Telling me it would be closed if I didnt access it within a set period

By then I'd lost the 22 character key so just let it go

Then i came across 3 of my mega nz files

1 was dead

even without accounts if their active enough?

Unlike mediafire where its clearly stated if you dont sign in once every 3 months
your account will be deleted megas TOS mentions no such requirements that I can find

Another that has entered the trickery end of hosting with free registration & downloading

Free registration is hidden away in the premium / reseller option

As usual when a host wants you to upgrade to premium

A free user download will continually try to make you believe its a premium file

This always occurs on a split screen - the free / slow download button
is at the bottom of the screen - out of sight until you scroll down
Its always the least obvious option in colour

Tested small file 1.8mb several days ago
with Chrome browser running ublock origin (ad-blocker) script safe (script blocker)

Everything occurs at the bottom of the screen but you will be continually bumped to the top where the premium download button resides

Slow download button - bottom of screen middle

i am not robot - ticked and no requirement to play the tick square game
If your not using ad & script blockers it might be different

count down screens - 1 for 37 seconds and then 119 seconds

File Download button in green , download at 50kb

I would say to anyone aiming for larger files ,
registering a free account is always better than downloading as a guest
not by much but it might make a difference

When i was a downloader i had 20 free registered accounts and not one of those hosts ever turned that email address into spam hell

The other thing which was key to successfully downloading with perceived fragile hosts
never overload your internet connection while downloading from hosts that have a recent history of aborted downloads. I used to give them free air - 1 download at a time.

Personally i think files above 1-1.5Gb with a host thats under performing
your better off searching for the same file on a more preferable host

Reverse image searches with the caps & title

Our sister forum Planetsuzy org has had options to request files on their site be re-upped to a host of your choice for years in G & D / image/filehosts - 1st sticky

If files (which files?) continue to abort maybe posting specific examples with as much detail as possible will be of use to admin when judging its value to VEF

Asking for a host to be banned has never been useful unless you bring a real argument
Uploaders ignoring rules , Malware etc

The owner set the precedent with Filesonic - unless its completely useless across the board
it stays because it brings in to much guest traffic

Appears they recently changed from a very easy

place 3 pieces in a jigsaw to a place 7 images in 3-6 different categories

Using Chrome with U block origin & Script safe

One known issue - dmca script -
- this appears to be the key captcha script

Other unresolved issues

Chrome blocked something requiring Adobes Flash
I allowed flash and didnt notice any difference

1. images so small or indistinct it becomes a guess

2. image changes when placed making it incorrect

3. image doesnt belong in any category

Only upside is you can fail plenty of times but theres no lockout or waiting period

Reported the 1st as not working - we wait and see
