I hope you all had a very merry Christmas and I wish you peace, contentment, and prosperity in the new year.

This has been a great year for this section, I think. We've put names to a lot of previously unknown models and sorted out some look-alikes. We've also been able to create many new model threads through the efforts of all involved. This is a never ending process, of course, but we have the best group of id experts on the 'net so next year promises to be another great one. I want to thank everyone who participates here; without your active involvement none of this would be possible. I also want to thank my colleagues who unselfishly volunteer their time to help keep everything organized.

We really haven't been keeping up with the Hall of Fame Game which former Mod hos created years ago. The idea has been to provide a little recognition for those who give some of their free time to help other members. But it has become very difficult to manage. The outdated forum software has been causing us to spend an inordinate amount of time to copy posts. What happens is the process of copying almost never completes itself so we have to manually stop it then check to see if the post copied at all or made too many copies. Then we have to remove the redundant copies all of which just takes a lot of wasted time and effort. In addition there seems to be a cascade effect which makes even editing the thread titles difficult. Anyway I'd much rather we'd be spending our time on more productive tasks. So... effective December 31 the Hall Of Fame game will be discontinued. The results for the last couple of years will be tallied and the results will be posted in January.

I hope this action will not deter anyone from participating. Some of the subjects of requests are instantly recognized by someone in the group so these are easy. Others are much more difficult and take years to resolve. I for one enjoy analyzing clues, gathering additional material, and having an active discussion. There is some sense of satisfaction to be gained from sharing what knowledge we may have, contributing to a discussion, and ultimately reaching some conclusion. I hope the rest of you feel this way, too.

Remember that post I linked to, where there was a reply but the thread still said "zero replies", that very thing just happened to me here.

I hit "Submit Reply" and it buffered for about 30 seconds, then I got a brief flash of a warning page that the post I just made was a duplicate. It came up so briefly I couldn't read it quickly enough.

Here's what the entry looks like now, after I've made the post:

Back in 2014 Hos was nice enough to give me the links to download all his solved sheets which he stopped doing in 2011. I know it's not the Hall of Fame game, but it did recognize who solved what requests, and provide an image archive of what was solved.

Here was the conversation we had, if anyone wants me to post his archive tell me where and will be glad to do it.
