First and a bit hypocritical of me, I've always bet on footy games, but never taken it serious. Just now, while posting this I've got Discovery Channel on and there's an ad for Crown Bet Whats that other one now... Ladbrokes ??? you get some money back if you lose what a suck in that is There's too much of it, I think a lot of sports talk now among many is the odds and their winnings rather than the sport itself My older brother some years back stopped watching footy on TV so his kids didn't get that gambling thing in their heads. True, it's said we would gamble on 2 flies walking up a wall but sometimes enough is enough My gambling is the casino maybe twice a month, the odd game of footy, that's it ... don't even play Tattslotto or Oz Lotto Edit Forgot to add, my betting on footy is among Mates and not with any company

The capitalist society loves the naive unsuspecting fun loving fool
I agree the gambling corporations have far too much exposure They've replaced tobacco as equal enemy no 1 imho Illegal drugs & alcohol are on the same level We think of ourselves as very honest as Australians but theres nothing honest in big business |

Has anyone else noticed the sharp increase in the availability of easy online lones in parallel with easy online gambling here in Aus?
Coincidence, I think not. Woops blown the rent money on online gambling, no problem get deeper in debt with an easy online lone! |

Before the advent of pokie machines Hobart had Aust's first legal casino at Wrest Point.
Gambling addiction remains a huge problem, mostly due to aforementioned 'pokies'. I remember when pokies were contained in tee-shirts. |

Yet over on this rapidly sinking island we're bombarded via the telly by gambling adverts trying to tempt the unenlightened. Tempted predominately with ads voiced by total gimps. Who pass for celebrities and have made a small multi million fortune , despite no discernible actual talent whatsoever No names mentioned ,

What if I lived in Australia?
Well, there is something I'd really like to do, run a school for immigrants and Australianise them Sit back and laugh at their confusion with our ways Sort of like this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VDgUVov1SGI
