It's with some embarrassment and with great sadness that I didn't learn about Tim's passing until today. One of the very best VEF members, without a doubt, and someone I first came across on the old "Jobbydealer" forum more than 10 years ago. So sorry to hear about this.

I really do not know how I missed this thread, but shame on me for doing so. There I was, popping into the Wank Club thread periodically, but not venturing beyond there until just now.

I am utterly shocked by this news, and all of the comments prior to this shows just how much Tim was loved and appreciated here. He was always helpful in providing information, and helped to fill into those grey memory gaps on many an occasion. Like me he was a fan of the 1980s, and after connecting there I bought a few mags from him.

Some time after that first buy, I bought around thirty editions of Club, and rather than posting them he offered to have me go round to his place and pick them up. Thus I was able to meet the great man, and chat about football in the 1980s. He loved the fact that I had gone to see the Littlewoods Cup Final between Luton and Nottingham Forest in 1989 as a neutral, and ended up supporting the Hatters on that day... Sadly, they lost.

Naturally, he showed me his massive porn archive, which filled one bedroom. All neatly sorted, all catalogued with the same care and precision that he treated his sharing of information here. It was impressive, let's say that. I only hope that all of it will end up in a good home, or be recirculated among fellow collectors and enthusiasts. I am sure this is what he would have wanted.

All in all, Tim was a great guy and I glad to say that he was kind enough to invite me to his home. 51 is not age for somebody like that to be taken away. I can only hope that he is sitting somewhere on a cloud with a big smile on his face, leafing through a copy of Mayfair.

RIP Tim.

I would like to start a thread in memorium of Tim. How about we all choose our own 1 favourite picture or comment from everything he posted and put them in a new thread? Hatter Tim greatest hits. lol

It's been nearly a year since I posted on here regularly, life seemed to get in the way. When I logged back in, I wasn't expecting to read such sad news. Tim and I rarely talked, but when we did he was great help as a senior member on here. I thoroughly enjoyed all his posts, and its strange to think of this wonderful site without him.

My (belated) condolences to his family and friends.

Let me first start by saying that I never knew Hattertim personally. I really don't know anyone here personally, though I wish I did. There are many fine individuals that I wish I had a common bond with but unfortunately, it is not in my cards.
I had the honor of corresponding with Hattertim many a times. He has given me advice, guidance and input many a times. He never knew me nor did I ever know him personally but I admired his work. Many of his postings completed a number of my collections that I had as a young teenager.
But most of all, Tim was a passionate collector of history as I was. We just didn't collect for the heck of it, we collected it for the piece in Time.
I never knew Tim personally, though I wished I did. I wipe away tears for someone I never knew and I wonder if I do it because of the end of his art, or the farewell of one from my Time?
Above all, I feel honored to have that time with him. I will forever remember it and consider him my personal friend.
Farewell. Tim. May we meet again in the next plane and sit awhile. May my condolences be with your family until then.

I used to be a regular on this forum, but under another name, over the years i come back every so often to look at posts and to see if old friends are still here. Sadly today i saw this thread and it left me completely gobsmacked. So much so that i had to rejoin and post on this thread.

Tim was a great poster and Mod here, also a kind, considerate and caring person. Tonight i will have a drink and raise my glass to a genuinely good guy.

I first encountered Hattertim on his Yahoo Groups and then followed his posts of the 80s magazines on here. I used to log in just to catch his posts especially if I knew if it was getting close to him posting one that I used to have. I never realised the posts stopped for this very sad reason.

Hattertim RIP you are greatly missed even by those of us who never knew you.
