I think despite Hugh Hefner being a well known liberal and defender of gay rights, he probably wasn't going to do too much to piss of his core audience. Playboy has removed the tagline "Entertainment for Men" and replaced it with "Entertainment for All". Playboy is seemingly trying to appeal to everybody but I think in attempting to appeal to everybody they are alienating their core (or what's left of it) but the SJW crowd is not going to pick up a Playboy because a transgender woman showed her bare breasts in it.

This is the move of a desperate publishing entity.

Simply the fact that there are literally thousands of bonafide, real women from birth who are beautiful and qualify as playmates and the decision makers at Playboy highlight a tranny is a move soaking in desperation. Next they'll unapologetically feature media-whore Bruce Jenner, if they haven't already done so.

They'll be history in a year.

Someone in another comment lamented that because of Playboy's iconic status they shouldn't die. Lots of icons die: Steve Jobs, John Wayne, James Dean, Marilyn Monroe, etc.

Anything worth seeing in Playboy's 64 year legacy is available somewhere on the web.

While looking at the Amateurs (Renamed) thread it occurred to me that Playboy is really in trouble. They really can't go back to featuring the girl next door. The girl next door is busy posting self-shot pornography on the Internet. Who knew that all those sweet looking girls were so depraved. I would suggest resuming Hef's practice of posting great articles, interviews, cartoons, and jokes, but both literacy standards and disposable income have declined enormously,

I've said it before, and I'll say it again - Playboy is increasingly unable to hold a candle to the photographic offerings of some of the better erotica studios out there, and those studios seem to enjoy a qualitative superiority in the beauty of their models as well.

Why would I want to look at Playboy's plastic blow-up dolls when I can look at some of the Russian and Eastern European girls on offer today instead, exquisitely photographed by people of superb talent?

Playboy is going to have to make a HUGE change in their magazine, devoting at LEAST 35% of their pages to quality photos of DECENT girls, in order for people to start taking notice of them again.

Insofar as articles go, I have to agree that since the lifestyle Hef was pushing back in the day is no longer attainable except by the lucky few. So they are going to have to change the whole slant of the magazine to get people interested.

Will they? Judging by this latest episode of transgender attention-whoring, probably not. They seem to be blind to what the readers want, or what they could GET the readers to want.

Yes, of course I have noticed. And when Playboy has to go that route, it's just another sign of how far they have fallen. Can't they dig up any hot original American girls? I mean, what the hell?

This is what happens when you let a bunch of lazy greedy corporate types take over any creative endeavor. Sooner or later they stop focusing on superior product and focus only on the bottom line. And in the end, lack of innovation and the destruction of the creative spark in the single-minded pursuit of the almighty dollar kills the company.

The modern corporate ethos may work well if you are selling oil or widgets made in China. It does not work well if you are trying to sell erotica.

What can Playboy do to make the American (and maybe Canadian) girl next door want to pose for them? Most of these young women today are not looking at Playboy as young women did in the past. In the past it was a big deal when Playboy came to a college campus to do a conference pictorial, it was a huge deal to become a Playmate and an ever bigger one to become Playmate of the Year. Women today have more options when it comes to posing nude and can have more freedom and make money from it. Sites like onlyfans and Patreon allow women to do their photoshoots, make their own rules and cater to their fanbases, instead of having their fans ask them constantly on social media when they'll be in Playboy again. Other women just head straight into the porn industry.

Too many young women today do not know the history of Playboy, Miss January 2017, Bridget Malcolm infamously said to the Daily Telagraph "A lot of people don't realize that Playboy has been re branded, It is no longer porn, they use high fashion girls". A statement that I find insulting all of the Playmates who came before her. The current Cybergirl of the Month, Maya Rae who has previously done lesbian and masturbation content has herself listed as a "Cyber Playmate" on her Model Mayhem page, she doesn't even know what her title is, it makes it seem like her CG and CGOM nods are just another nude gig to her and really makes Playboy look bad.
