Default Logging-In "Annoyance" or Problem ?

Few weeks ago, the adverts that came up as you logged-in, were only time consumming for me.Waiting for them to load on me 12 year old CPU.

I've always used Adblock, but that didn't affect those Log-in ads.
No big problem, I just waited.

Then they disappeared and it's was back to normal.

Until today.

Now, instead of those pre-Login ads, the opening page is hijacked. I get two new BLANK tabs/windows. Click them off and the whole lot goes, included me Log-in page.

This reminds me of experiences on another, well-loved movie site, where Log-ins were hijacked to blank Tabs/Windows, because of AdBlocker, the new pages were just blank.

I Clean Cache, run CCleaner etc and try again.

After the third attempt I get a normal Log-In, without hijacks or stuff.

And, in threes, it is the 3rd time in the last 12 hours that I've had to do this.

Is this a new pre-Log-In, advertising exercise ?
Or something more sinister?

Just a heads-up, because I suspect that many of you with 'State-of-the-Art' IT, may not experience this.

I've had two similar annoyances within the past week:

Instead of the VEF home page and the area where you log in, I instead get a reduced-size window with a title bar for "Creatives LiveJasmin" or some such.

I recall LiveJasmin from a few years back, being ubiquitous on adult-oriented sites. But VEF would only occasionally have it as a pop-under when viewing images from posts or photosets. So I am hoping that this annoyance of the week goes away soon.

Same here. It's not that this crap appears, its that it is hijacking the opening page, and if you close the Jasmin page down the whole of VEF closes too.

If you leave the Jasmin page and minimise it, you can use VEF but when you close down there are 6 or 7 open Jasmin pages.......plus it is showing all of them in the recently opened pages on both Mac Safari and Firefox.

Can you sort this out please Moderators.........very annoying. I have 3 Jasmin pages open now, just posting this

I've had a couple of issues. No real problems. I get a blank page popup, but adblocker seems to work and removes it, but I keep getting a "token expired" message when I search.

This used to happen a while ago, but stopped.

As I said no real issues (yet) but it is annoying.

Maybe of help - given many firefox extensions are usuable in other browsers with the same rendering engine - previous discussions x2 from 2011

Getting rid of pop-unders in Firefox /
Cannot Prevent "Creatives.Livejasmin.com" Popup Window from Opening at Login thread

- numerous different ways depending on likes , wants , IT understanding
- links to

no script security suite
P.U.K a rude PopUp/Under Killer (prev: killjasmin)
redirector
Add N Edit Cookies 0.2.1.3 (mentioned)

Sadly the ad-blockplus popup addon extension seems to have disappeared from mozillas list

Adblock Plus Pop-up Addon is an Adblock Plus extension which extends the blocking functionality to pop-up windows and pop-up tabs

Going beyond that it never hurts to run the small cleanup programs like

AdwCleaner is a program that searches for and deletes Adware, Toolbars, Potentially Unwanted Programs (PUP), and browser Hijackers from your computer. By using AdwCleaner you can easily remove many of these types of programs for a better user experience on your computer and while browsing the web.

https://www.bleepingcomputer.com/download/adwcleaner/

Junkware Removal Tool is a security utility that searches for and removes common adware, toolbars, and potentially unwanted programs (PUPs) from your computer. A common tactics among freeware publishers is to offer their products for free, but bundle them with PUPs in order to earn revenue. This tool will help you remove these types of programs.

The plugins in your browser - none are needed to enter VEF but i've seen these stop updating automatically leaving severe vulnerabilities which these pop unders exploit
I enter VEF with all but my security suite disabled

The question about whether this is a glich, a problem or a malware intrusion is still open.

What exactly is causing it?

I've found a simple, almost workaround.
On the log-in page, I refresh instantly, and reduce the "unseen" hijack pages to just one. Then I wait, as I did with those adverts, and I can log-in.

Hope this helps us older PC users.

Corporate greed, and those damn capitalists!

Brother buttsie gives some good tips above to alleviate the pop-up problem.
For those that are using Firefox, NoScript clears it up quite nicely.

I was pleased to find this thread and realise it wasn't just me having this fleeting small ghost page trying to open in Firefox during recent days while logging on to VEF. It was starting to bother me and I assume AdBlock has been stopping it?

Unfortunately, I have had a couple of recent worrying experiences opening links on VEF and thought there might be a connection. One was a crude attempt at Ransomware (I think) which I stopped as it started to appear and on another occasion, my AV detected a threat on a picture link and then my system locked up. Couldn't find anything afterwards, but I am just a touch bothered by what's out there at the moment and the possibility of being caught by some form of cryptolocker or whatever.

I use Safari and I have the same issue as described above: I get a blank page with a "livejamin" pop up when I log in; clicking the "remember me" box is what triggers the pop up and the application quits suddenly

AdBlock usually works well to prevent pop ups but not this time
In my filter list I've entered several adresses to block the pop up (but with no satisfactory result):
http://creatives.livejasmin.com/pu/
http://livejasmin.com
http://www.w3.org/TR/
http://awempire.com
http://jasmin.com
www.google-analytics.com/analytics.js

Would someone perhaps know the exact address to block with AdBlock filter ?
Thanks in advance
