I'm not sure I understand the question. We have some officers who wear plain clothes while on duty (because of rank or assignment), in which case yes they are required to be armed. In that situation they have no reason to conceal that they are armed.

If you mean are they supposed to be armed when off-duty? That depends on the jurisdiction and the department. Some require officers (or deputies) to be armed at all times, some specify that they should only be armed while on-duty, others allow it but do not require it. There's no one single rule or law covering this in the US.

May I ask an American on US drinking alcohol Laws.

My son is 19 and is travelling to the USA for a vacation. Florida, with next year California when he will be 20yo.

1 Can he legally purchase alcohol?

2 Can he legally drink it if given by an adult but not purchase it?

3 Can he carry alcohol in as a gift for a relative?

The US alcohol lawa seem even worse than in England.

Here, legal to purachase and consume at 18yo

Legal to consume beer, wine, cider or perry over age 14 with a meal in a restaurant.

Legal to give your kids, but not sure at the ages.

I could have made mistakes....so let the corrections, debate and answers ensue....

Thx

The laws are different from state to state and even from county to county within a state.

In general, no alcohol of any kind, even beer, under 21.

what does it mean when you say, "Don't Bogart that?"
Heared this being used alot and it sounds like being selfish, but BOGART.
Is this something to do with Humphrey Bogart?

It's something to do with Humphrey Bogart always seeming to be smoking in his movies,it originally pertained to hogging a joint.

21 is pretty much the universal age for drinking in the U.S., so he wouldn't be able to buy it (or drink it) legally. An adult who provided a "minor" with alcohol would be subject to criminal prosecution. I'm not sure about carrying alcohol as a gift, it would probably vary considerably by state. If it were boxed up or wrapped, I doubt many cops would trouble him over that. We've got bigger problems to worry about than that. You never know, though...we've got bigger problems here than people under 21 drinking booze, too, but we always seem to find time to be sanctimonious about these things.

Nobody1, many American do have their pay electronically transferred to their bank accounts. It depends on whether the employer offers the option (most do nowadays) and the employee's wishes. Some of the more old-fashioned people still don't trust technology and prefer to have something of value in their hands (which could then be lost or stolen, go figure).

I chose to have my pay electronically transferred because it was taking a majority of my lunch hour on Friday to go down and sit in line at the bank.

In my previous job I was paid on the 1st of the month and the 15th of the month so it wasn't that big of a deal.

Dangerous territory but a question I have heard before. I have wildcarded the N Word because its extremely sensitive in the modern world. I am going to ask any member who dares to answer this question to be extremely careful. We specifically forbid racist posts in our rules and will punish any such. A genuine, honest and fair-minded answer to this question will be fine. A racist and evil minded answer will not be tolerated.

I hope there's no ambiguity here.
