Artistic freedom may well give rise to bad art - but it does not strangle it at birth.

As for chess etc. - yes, they have an artistic component for sure. But to be truly art it must demonstrate something of the human condition and excite emotion and connection in other human beings. It seems to me that these subjects may be too esoteric and solipsistic to achieve that.

I still think that money ruins all the relashionship between people and destroys our environment.

I do admire their talent, the fact that some artists do not pay taxes is a totally separate issue and tax avoidance occurs in many fields outside the arts, in fact where would many tax avoiders be without the help of dodgy accountants and Swiss banks.

Money does have a part in ruining the environment, true, but don't for a second as we've said here before that this is only the fault of capitalism.

Everyone no matter what we do harms the environment, just like the bike you have to get around was made in a factory, just like the public transport you use harms it in a way. Everybody and every system has an effect no matter if money existed or not.

Equally, if put to good use - with goodwill and ethical governance - money can heal divisions and improve the environment.

The same caveats and principles apply to any communist system. It can work admirably but has so frequently been subverted into something worse than fascism. That is why so many see it as antithetical to freedom rather than a means to achieve it.
