Also steam.

Was watching one of the Star Trek films last night (one of the later ones called Insurrection), and the Enterprise is (has often the case) being attacked relentlessly by an alien ship.

And again, we see things blowing up, sparks, fire, smoke etc and also steam bellowing out of ruptured floor panels/walls.

Why would they have steam on a starship?
