'Hot Gossip' (Kenny Everett Video Show).
Perhaps this thread is just slightly off-topic, but here goes.
Those of us of a certain age well remeber the 'Kenny Everett Video Show' on Thames TV which ran from the late 1970s to the early 80s.Recently repeats of the programme have surfaced on satellite TV, and I must say that the show is still very, very funny - just how I remember it, it has withstood the test of time unlike most comedy. Well anyway the show, of course, contained a performance by the famed dance troupe 'Hot Gossip' choreographed by none other than Arlene Phillips, now a stalwart of Saturday evening television. I seem to remeber Hot Gossip creating a fuore at the time - Mary Whitehouse had kittens and across the nation millions of middle-aged dads suddenly took an interest in the gay DJ and '70s bubble-gum pop, but on seeing the footage again the truth was that Hot Gossip were very, very raunchy - pushing the bounds of television 'decency' to the limit - far 'hotter' than anything shown today (with the possible exception of that Christina Aguliera boxing video). They concenntrated on a lot 'crotch-shot' action unashamedly.Really there were just a group of soft-porn cabaret entertainers mascerading as a dance troupe -their only function was to tilliate the male viewer - of course there's nothingwrong with that! Strangely enough, one Sarah Brightman was a founding member of hOt Gossip. She has 're-made' herself as a pure almost virginal light operatic singer. |

Check Youtube again. I found a bunch of footage. Saved at least an hours worth of classic Kenny. ( He was one of my idols in the early 80s) I found a bunch of Sid snot. I am still laughing. Not much Captain Kremmen. Too bad. Also youtube is weird, things appear, disappear it always changes. Happy searching.

They must have had a great time putting that show together and with the Hot Gossip girls around... it must have felt like one big party.
Sadly Thames TV are no longer with us... they bit the dust in 1992 I kind of miss their opening logo http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KGITcmbYQto |

It seeems that Hot Gossip were ... created.... for the Kenny Everret show .... am I wrong ?
Arlene must have got the go ahead from ITV and enough money to order a ton of sexy stuff from Ann Summers There were some hot babes in there ... including Sarah brightman for a while but the problem with the dance group was that they changed personnel far too often... almost every week it seems ( was nt Sinitta in there for a while ? ) Give me Legs and Co any time.... pure class Gill Clark Lulu Cartwright Patti Hammond Pauline Peters Rosemary Hetherington Sue Menhenick they did so many great dance routines to the pop music of the day |
