Olivia Tisha deCarlos Silang is a Canadian citizen from Toronto, with Filipino ancestry. When she left further education, she followed the well trodden (well on this thread), route of firstly entering the beauty queen circuit, and as a commercial model, she won the title of 'Model of the Year' in 1993, and secondly, in a tactic the Filipino girls who were brought up in a first world country seem to favour (see previous posts), she returned to the 'old country' to seek success in this field.

I don't know if they just assume that being 'western' means they have an advantage or not, but like all the others she landed in Manila and entered the 1998 Binibining Pilipinas (Miss Philippines) contest. After this episode ended (see below) she remained in the Philippines and worked as a TV Personality in several shows on the GMA Network. This included stints on the morning news and the talk show 'Mornings @ GMA' which was a daily show. She also pursued other TV hosting and a modeling career. In 2008 she appeared in the third season of 'The Amazing Race Asia' coming second with her partner.

After she was crowned as Binibining Pilipinas (Miss Philippines), she was forced to resign when it was found that she was not a Filipino citizen. This seems to be rather a common occurrence in this particular part of the Miss Universe world.

News report dated July 10, 2013:
The estranged wife of former Major League Baseball pitcher Kris Benson faces up to 20 years in prison stemming from her gun-toting attack on him earlier this week.
Anna Benson is charged with aggravated assault and battery with a gun, possession of a firearm in a felony and criminal trespass charges after she allegedly stormed his Georgia home demanding $30,000 from him.
In addition to the handgun, police said Benson was also carrying a hatchet, an expandable baton and a Taser. According to TMZ, she also had a knife stuffed in her waistband and was wearing a bulletproof vest and an ammo belt.
ESPN reports that when cops asked Benson why she was wearing a bulletproof vest she told them “she was testing it for a company and had to wear it for long periods of time to get it to mold to her body.”
In a panicked 911 call obtained by TMZ, Kris Benson can be heard telling authorities the former Baseball Wives star burst into his bedroom with the handgun and immediately began demanding the money. Benson told police he is not sure if his soon-to-be ex-wife had been drinking beforehand.
Besides starring on Baseball Wives, Anna Benson is also known for once boasting “she would sleep with all of her husband’s teammates if he ever cheated on her.”
Kris Benson last pitched for the Arizona Diamondbacks in 2010. He formally filed for divorce from the former FHM model late last year.

Charlotte Campbell is a model, she is also a Taekwondo black belt and a pole dance teacher .... err, right, good. After falling pregnant at the age of nineteen and becoming a single mother, her route into the beauty pageants seemed closed, that being one of the magic 'No No's' of the beauty queen circuit.

But then opportunity knocked when an ex beauty queen created new events which would be opened to single mothers and divorcees. She won the Miss York City 2010 title, and then entered the new event of Miss British Model 2011.

She won that title and garnered much local and national press coverage. She was invited as one of the special guests on ITV's Alan Titchmarsh Show and she then flew off to Italy to do photo shoots and interviews. Her stated aim was eventually to return to university and become a teacher (or maybe not) .... but first she was going for the Miss Great Britain Contest which was also open to single mothers now.

Then came the ...

There were allegations that she had posted nude photos of herself on Facebook. She denied it at first, and said that she believed the photograph being referred to was to one which was “implied nude”, but not nude.

But the boss of Miss GB insisted that she had posted completely nude photos of herself on Facebook, and said that she was being replaced as Miss York City by another woman. She also confirmed that she had the evidence of the more explicit photos, but declined to pass them on to the press.

A statement on the Miss Great Britain website said it had a policy of 'zero tolerance' in the case of published topless and complete nudity images, and “had no choice” but to revoke Charlotte’s title. And that was that.

Emma Rose Roberts was born in Rhinebeck, Dutchess County, New York USA and comes from a theatrical background. So no surprise that she made her acting debut at age nine in the film 'Blow' in 2001. She also had a role in the 10-minute short 'bigLove', and was an uncredited extra in some scenes featuring her aunt Julia Roberts in 'America's Sweethearts'. From there on it was success all the way, with roles in 'Grand Champion' 2002, and 'Spymate' in 2003. She then starred in the Nickelodeon TV series 'Unfabulous', in September 2004 and which ended in December 2007.

She has enjoyed much Film and TV work since then, and currently stars in the US TV show 'American Horror Story' ...... she's also tried her hand at music with an album and a few singles .... none shook the world. Needless to say I had never heard of her until yesterday, nor had I heard of any of her films or shows.

On July 7, 2013, Roberts was arrested for domestic violence against her boyfriend and co star Evan Peters in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. Another guest at the couple's hotel overheard a loud dispute coming from their room and called the police, who arrived to find Evan Peters with a bloody nose and a bite mark.

Roberts was only released several hours after her arrest, when Mr Peters declined to press charges. Later they issued a joint statement, in which they called it "an unfortunate incident and misunderstanding", and stated that they "are working together to move past it". She was later seen crying down the phone while a distracted looking Peters 'comforted her'.

One from the darkside of the force ..... Maria Susana Flores Gamez was a young Mexican girl who saw beauty pageants as her way to fame and fortune .... she was the winner of the '2012 Woman of Sinaloa' and then represented Mexico in China for the 'Miss Oriental Tourism International' contest. She also competed with seven other contestants for the more prestigious state beauty contest, Miss Sinaloa, but didn't win.

But somewhere along the way the path to celebdom took a wrong turn, and she ended up with a drug trafficking boyfriend ..... it was this fact that led to her eventual demise.

In November 2012 the Mexican Authorities said that the 20yr old Ms Flores was riding as a member of a caravan of drug traffickers, who opened fire on Mexican soldiers on the streets of El Palmar Leal, in the municipality of Mocorito, in the state of Sinaloa. There were conflicting reports as to whether this was a planned 'ambush' by the army, or (more likely), after the gunmen had carjacked and murdered an innocent man.

The firefight and car chase between the Mexican soldiers, and the group of armed men, who were later reported to be members of 'Orso Iván Gastélum' (hit men for the Sinaloa drug cartel), lasted several hours, ending only when the gunmen were cornered at a cartel 'safe house'.

When it finished, amongst the killed were Miss Flores and her boyfriend, two soldiers and a civilian. Three men were arrested at the house and several heavy weapons were seized, including seven AK-47 assault rifles, thousands of rounds of ammunition, and a 40mm grenade launcher with grenades. The army also found six trucks and an armored car.

The Mexican newspaper La Presnsa later reported that Miss Flores' family denied that she was in league with the gunmen ... that in fact she was on her way to work and was just caught in the wrong place at the wrong time.

But the attorney general's office issued a statement saying that far from being a victim, soldiers reported that in fact she came out of the car first, with a gun in her hands, and with the other gunmen hiding behind her. They later confirmed their belief that she very likely fired a gun at soldiers and police during the final siege after gunpowder residue was found on her hands

The military report of the shootout said she went down in a hail of gunfire and was found dead near the assault rifle along with two other bodies.

Shannon Richardson (aka Shannon Guess), born Shannon Rogers, now resides in New Boston, Texas USA. She finished her education at Gainesville State College with a paralegal degree and a teaching degree. She supplements her acting work by writing travel articles

She's had an active private life, being married three times (with five sons) and is believed to be currently pregnant again by her army mechanic husband with whom she's locked in an unhappy marraige.

Its fair to say that all this 'home making' may have impacted her career, but she has had small roles in television shows and films, including 'The Vampire Diaries', 'Franklin & Bash', 'The Change-Up', The Blind Side', and 'The Walking Dead' ....

She informed the FBI agents that her husband was the man behind the ricin-laced letters sent to both President Obama, and Mayor Bloomberg. It was she who brought the couple to the FBI's attention when she reported to them that she had found a 'suspicious substance' in the couples refrigerator. However as her story started to unravel she had then told the investigators that she had mailed the ricin-tainted letters, but she also claimed that her husband typed the letters, and then forced her to print and mail them

However under polygraph examination it became apparent that she was lying. Further investigation found that her computer storage devices contained the text of the threatening letters sent to the President, but the couple's computer records also showed that her husband couldn't have printed them, because when the print command was pressed, he was at work at the time.

The three letters were mailed from Shreveport, Louisiana, and according to the FBI had "very low concentrations" of ricin on them. Her husband said she had wanted to end their marriage and leave him, and that his wife was "intentionally misleading" them. After her arrest he filed for divorce and his legal weasel is arguing that he's been framed by his vengeful wife. He has so far not actually been charged with any offences.

The FBI arrested her on June 8th 2013 and on June 28th she was indicted on two counts of mailing a threatening communication and one count of making a threat against the president ..... and she faces up to 10 years in prison if convicted.

• The letters all contained the same message “You will have to kill me and my family before you get my guns. Anyone wants to come to my house will get shot in the face. The right to bear arms is my constitutional, God-given right and I will exercise that right til the day I die. What’s in the letter is nothing compared to what we got planned for you”.
• If she has framed her husband, this will be the second potential ricin-related framing this year.
• She has 2 tattoos. She has a tribal design on her lower back and butterflies on her stomach.
• She plays the flute.
• She donated bone marrow in 2011 to save the life of a little girl with Leukemia.

Update:

She was found guilty been given an 18-year prison term after she pleaded guilty in December to the charge of possessing and producing a biological toxin. A federal judge gave her the maximum sentence under that plea deal and ordered her to pay restitution of about $367,000 (£214,000).

"I never intended for anybody to be hurt," she told the court in mitigation.

Felicity Jane Stephens (b. Christine Matsuura) is from the Gold Coast in Australia. She had trained as a dancer (with the Francessca Loiuse Academy of Dance), and was a model with a promising career that had seen her perform throughout Australia, the USA and Asia. She even based herself in HongKong. Her career was initially as a dancer with her first tour in 1998 on the Andaman Island, Thailand as a Resort Cabaret Show Dancer. She then went to Japan in 1999 and mixed work in Japan, Australia and Las Vegas up until 2005.

She also performed modelling and promotional work including the Kylie Minogue underwear Fashion show in 2004, including selling products and merchandise for Kahlua, Jim Beam, Bundy Rum,Baileys,Shmirnoff Vodka,Jack Daniels, Canadian Club. She finally did promotional work for Pin Up Promotions, on the Goldcoast, Australia in 2008. She has also posed in nude shots as her dance career faltered .... However she was under pressure to maintain her weight while on tours abroad from the age of 16, and she started to use "crystal meth" to help ....

She served almost three years in a Japanese prison after being caught importing cannabis in 2005, while under instructions from her then boyfriend - the son of prominent member of the 'Yukuza' (a traditional organised Japanese crime syndicate).

In 2009 she returned to Australia and was twice arrested by police after passing out in her car with bottles of the liquid fantasy concoction and methylamphetamine in her possession.

In August 2009 she was remanded in custody in Australia, after denying charges that she tried to import 20 litres of 'liquid fantasy', a date-rape drug, worth about A$4 million (HK$32.7 million) ... she was caught when Australian Customs and Border Protection Service officers inspected and confiscated a 20-litre drum of liquid fantasy that had arrived from Hong Kong. Police allegedly then found an email linking her to the purchase of the drug in Hong Kong. Queensland police later executed a search warrant at Stephens' residential premises in the Gold Coast where further evidence relating to the importation was allegedly located, and she was arrested and charged.

The colourless, oily liquid drug is legal in Hong Kong - where it is used as a cleaning solvent - but in Australia it is banned due to its illicit use as a date-rape drug (It is also banned in most Western countries). The estimated street value of the illegal drug import was more than A$4 million.

So serious was the offence that when she made an application to vary her bail to attend her mother-in-law's 65th birthday party in Greece, the court rejected her application for fear she would abscond. At the hearing, Magistrate John Costanzo had said that Stephens was a 'completely unacceptable risk' and would not grant the bail variation, this despite evidence that her return flights to Greece, which happened to be via Hong Kong, were booked and paid for.

She faced a maximum penalty for importation of life imprisonment and/or a fine of A$825,000. Her defence said that she turned to using so-called party drugs to manage her weight ..... She pleaded guilty to one commonwealth offence of importing a commercial quantity of a border controlled drug and five state offences, including possessing the dangerous drugs methyl amphetamine, GHB and cannabis in the Brisbane Supreme Court, and was jailed for five-years and four-months.

She will be considered eligible for parole after having spent two-years and three-months in actual custody.

Brandi Brandt born in Santa Clara, California to Brie Howard who was percussionist/Vocalist for the "Boxing Gandhis" as well as being an actress. So not unnaturally Ms Brandt followed a similar career path ... she had an uncredited role in the film 'Can't Buy Me Love' in 1987, which she reinforced with a spread in Pl*yboy in 1987 .... this brought her to the wider worlds attention. She then met the Mötley Crüe bassist Nikki Sixx, who she married and with whom she had three children between 1989–1996.

Her film and TV career seems to have been spasmodic with just the odd TV and film appearance, and another Pl*yboy centrefold appearance .... a couple of film parts followed her divorce.

When they divorced she sued her ex-husband for $10 million (the amount she estimated he made during their 7-and-half-year marriage), and neglect, stating he walked out on her and their children. In response, he said that he moved out only so she wouldn't have to relocate, and that he gave her $6 million, the house they shared, and a Mercedes Benz.

In 2009, Brandt was implicated in a cocaine smuggling ring in Australia when Police documents detailing allegations against some Australian men showed money transfers out of Sydney totalling more than $320,000, made between July and November 2007, to model and actress Brandi Brandt and her boyfriend Rusty Setser. Brandt travelled to Sydney in December 2007 on a United Airlines flight ..... a customs team searched the aircraft on its arrival in Sydney from Los Angeles on December 2, 2007, and allegedly found 12 blocks of shrink-wrapped cocaine, weighing about 5.7kg, located in a garbage bin inside one of the rear toilets. The relevant US authorities were informed of their suspected involvement.

Wayne Cleveland and Brandt were captured on CCTV footage at Bondi's 'Swiss Grand Hotel' after the she arrived in the country .... Further investigations uncovered a connection between the drug syndicates leader Wayne Cleveland and Brandt's boyfriend (described as a 'defacto couple'). A police official said "Cleveland is closely associated with the 'Bra Boys', a well-known surf-crime group based in the eastern suburbs of Sydney". It was later reported that the bofriend (well now ex boyfriend) Rusty Setser was a member of the 'Crusty Demons of Dirt' presumably another surf group.

Whatever the explanations were for all this financial connections, they must have been good, because as far as I can tell neither Setser nor Brandt were arrested in connection with the allegations.

Ena Gregory was born in Manley, Sydney, Australia, where she started early in show business. Her stage nickname was 'the child wonder' of the Vaudeville stage. She came over to the US when she was 15 or 16, and was first signed in Hollywood for ingenue roles by Universal Pictures in 1921. She also worked for Hal Roach and she spent five years in comic roles opposite luminaries including Laurel and Hardy and Charley Cahse, before going into dramatic work. By 1924 she was the leading lady of the Independent Pictures Corporation, opposite Jack Hoxie, for two movies.

Changing her stage name to 'Marian Douglas' she continued her career starting with 'The Shepherd of the Hills' in 1928. She continued to make movies as Marion Douglas until 1931 when her 76 film career effectively ended. She left show business completely after marrying a Hollywood physician in 1937 (she divorced him in 1939. She later became a real estate dealer in the coastal community of Laguna Beach, California. She died in Laguna Beach, California in 1993, aged 87.

In an age where divorces were a scandal, and salacious divorces much publicised, she was involved in an especially acrimonious one that attracted a lot of bad publicity. She was married to film director Alfred Rogell when in 1934 he started divorce proceedings naming a well known attorney, William V.R. Smith as the co-respondent in a $150,000 lawsuit (meaning he was naming the man who was sleeping with his wife, and suing him for damages as well - equal to $2,609,102.27 in 2013). She was eventually awarded a temporary alimony sum of $300 per month from Rogell .... sadly I don't know who ended up getting the money. Her career, already in decline was killed by the bad publicity ....

• Her first screen appearance came at the age of four when she appeared in her mother's arms in a crowd which was welcoming British dignitaries.
• She was a Wampas Baby Star of 1925.
• She consulted a Hollywood seer named 'Dareos' when stardom eluded her and he suggested the new stage name 'Marian Douglas' (the syllables of Mary Pickford and Douglas Fairbanks).
• She became an American citizen beginning in October 1927.
