Good point, the last part. Now it's called scary hairy and usually listed as a 'fetish'. In the past, shaven was a novelty.As always, the commercial sites have no imagination and a link page will usually direct you to something that looks like a gorilla.

I'm the first to believe in a government or business conspiacy but there's other reasons with a lot due to the ever more brief bikini and what became known as the bikini line. By the early to mid 90s, just before most ppl were on the net, women were shaving so much off at each side that only a square middle piece was left. The porn stars were no exception and soon there was just a small patch of hair left and the beautiful triangle of lust was gone.

Life imitates art and with so many younger couples on the internet and women seeing porn like never before they soon copied. Check out all the amateur sites and forums and nearly all are shaved, not just in the west either. Perhaps when the economy crashes, some time next year, women won't have so much

This may be a little long winded, but hopefully puts one person's perspective on many of the fashions seen in the world of pornography.

As one of a certain age, I remember the 60's and 70's porn when they happened (and when we could see them). In the UK in the 1950's, showing pubic hair in photographs was considered obscene (there was no nudity allowed at all on mainstream cinema), so all nude glamour pictures had retouched patches or, the models shaved, hiding the vagina (Harrison Marks was THE exponent of this type of pic). When things liberalised in the late 60's, showing pubic hair was new and exciting.

Following this, the rather sad 'open crotch shot' became common - via the european liberalisation of hardcore pornography - typically Mary Millington type pictures. Illegal hardcore smuggled into the UK ballooned when Video Recorders became widely available, and showed largely US material (presumably because they were in English).

As has been rightly stated above, a shaved pubis was very unusual, but the trend to "Follow the Fashion" was already established. Look at any early Aunt Peg or Deirdre Cousteau video, and every female model has a silk scarf around her neck! By the same token, anal penetration was rare and very, very daring.

So the fashion was also for the ejaculation to be visible - the "money Shot", this was on early B&W films anywhere outside of the female, so long as it could be seen. So, what is the final analysis? I reckon it is simply that the industry is uncertain and watches what others do like hawks. As soon a 'novel' feature is displayed, all jump on the bandwagon and it becomes a norm by sheer repetition. What would happen if one model shaved her head, just like Britney Spears? Any bets that this would become mainstream within a year?

Sorry to have rambled on so long, but I am old enough to have actually been there, as a spectator, as often as I could when the law was very, very forbidding in the UK.
