That's an interesting observation chris chunt - I usually think in terms of my dad's 'hidden' stash of girly mags as the main source of my wank-fodder as a young teenager but, on reflection, around the time of my puberty c1969 'Titbits' and the very similar 'Weekend' magazine always had sexy and usually half-dressed girls on their covers and 'Weekend' used to have some similar photographs inside too, non-nude but light-dressed young women in pin-up poses, and my parents had both magazines delivered. You've reminded me that the appealingly sexy girls on the covers of 'Titbits' and 'Weekend' ensured that these mags were actually the first thing I reached for as a young adolescent with an itch for stimulation. It should go without saying what the second thing I reached for was I'm moving off-topic in adding the following but in the very early 1970s another good source of wank-fodder for me was the surprising amount of female nudity to be found in the Sunday Times magazine back when porn, particularly arty 'erotica', was briefly considered chic rather than 'sexist'. For instance my first photos of Marilyn Monroe fully nude were taken from the Sunday Times Magazine and I remember a long photo-illustrated article about soft-core porn magazines that I kept until it was too tatty to 'use'. Again, the Sunday Times was another publication my parents had delivered and which I made sure I cut all the sexy photos from before the old copies were chucked in the bin Thanks for the reminder

Carol Heaps
I only just recently discovered this photograph but I didn't know who the model was until tonight, when I decided to catch up with the thread. What a thrill to find more views of Carol's fabulous arse! Quote:

Cheeks
Talk about embarrassment!
I couldn't believe what I was seeing when I found this publication at the corner store. Naughty nurses are one thing, butt I'd never seen a model as decadent as Desire, (aka Desiree). I didn't want to be seen buying this, but I couldn't help myself... It wasn't any easier bringing this one to the counter, where the proprietor had a habit of flipping through my purchases before taking my cash! This is a special interest that you might not want to share with just anyone but the promise of her pretty posterior was irresistible. |

Cheeks and Buttman
Quote:
I was a long-time buyer of 'Cheeks' and similar magazines and I very clearly remember the issue that had that first photoset featuring Desire/Desiree so I understand why you would be embarassed . I wasn't a fan of her as a model but through that set and the videos of the french porn model Laeticia I developed a strong taste for her 'party trick' and sought out the issues that featured Desire over the following two or three years. Reading your post reminded me that around 2000, quite soon after buying that issue of 'Cheeks' I was browsing the hoppers of a porno shop in my home city (Manchester UK), looked up at the wall and saw my first ever copy of 'Buttman' magazine. It wasn't the image on the cover that made my eyes bug out on stalks, it was the fact that it was a copy of 'Buttman' - I knew 'Buttman' only as a producer of videos I couldn't find anywhere. The shop eventually became Jobbydealer. I don't have to hand any of the photosets from that issue of Buttman and it was a job just finding that cover online. I wouldn't mind betting that most of you wouldn't like them anyway, perhaps Caboosier excepted. Long story short, I bought this copy of 'Buttman' unseen in its see-through plastic bag and was delighted when I opened it to find not only page after page of bottom-centric photos (it was a John Stagliano publication so this was its USP) and lots of photos of girls taking it up the bum but also featured lots of models performing Desire/Desiree's party trick. Suffice it to say that I became a regular buyer of 'Buttman' magazine right up to the day I stopped buying soft and hard porn mags about ten years later. A final digression: Cabs, I'm pleased I unknowingly provided you with the identity of Carol Heaps, think of it as an unknowing thank-you on my part: your threads and contributions here at VEF have given me a lot of pleasure over the years

The cover shot of the Nell Gynne photo story takes me back to when I bought that copy in the seventies. I’d just broken up, after over a year, with the most stunning girl I’d been with, who just happened to bear a striking resemblance to that cover girl. I had many a happy hour with that mag! |

But it was an excellent cover. Despite having myself posted a Knave cover (Jennifer Eccles aka Bobbie) in this thread I hadn't looked around the VEF 'Knave' 1969-1979 thread despite being a member here since 2007. I started buying my own UK Girlies in late Autumn 1973 and I'd remembered Knave as being at best number three on my five core buys back then, my order of preference being 1) Men Only 2) Club International 3) Knave 4) Fiesta 5) Mayfair. Your post martsm, with both the Oranges cover and your quoted photo of the girl with her hand well down inside her knickers, and J J your quote of martsm's post, had my eyes out on stalks enough this morning to have a look around the VEF Knave 1970s thread. Having just now had a quick browse of that thread and read up about Knave online, I'd forgotten two things about Knave in the early mid 70s, first how hip and cool the writing and the writers were and second, and most importantly to me at the time, how the magazine rivalled Men Only and Club International for subtly but clearly showing the girls' cunnies and bumholes. I'd remembered Knave as being a slightly younger-feeling Mayfair with the girls' holes being airbrushed into shadow in any photos where they would have been otherwise visible. Thank-you to both of you for inspiring me to visit the 70s Knave thread and for having my eyes out on stalks with a 45 year old cover here in the present day Off now to have a thorough good look around that 70s Knave thread and... well, you know what

I've just realised that I've overlooked most of the posts in the first hundred in this thread so I've gone back, read them and thanked them - I hope no-one minds if I use this post to address a couple of points that particularly took my interest:
Quote:
How very much things have changed even in the twenty years since your 1997 Swank cover - few paper and ink Girly mags still in existence, usually anodyne covers, and those often in 'modesty' bags whilst online we can find every kink catered for. I'm going to make it mission to see if I'm right about these 1970s cover masturbation covers and if I am I shall bring my prizes back to this thread to put eyes on stalks. Quote:
I went to models' home studios a few times in the 80s - none of which girls I recognised although they all had their modelling books and showed me them - but I didn't have the facilities at my own place to develop colour film and couldn't bring myself to send them to a professional lab so I never saw any of the photos I took The undeveloped films might still be around the house somewhere, dusty and decayed beyond developability by time For me Amateur Photographer was never a mag I looked to for an eyes-on-stalks cover but a magazine by way of which I could arrange private stripteases by attractive young women under the guise of taking photos of them
