Not sure if this counts as Ashes but remember Allen Stanford who bankrolled that Winner-take-all Million Dollar tournament in the West Indies and who subsequently was found guilty of fraud and sent to prison-well there was a picture of him in the paper, blood-stained on his shirt and feet-14 people had beaten him up-I know what he did was despicable, but no one deserves that sort of punishment.

Australia~ 1st Test
The Test side is picked on Monday, so I thought I should get mine in first.
A few changes. This is assuming all are fit. First I would definitely find as place for Ryan Harris. He was injured earlier in the year in some meaningless one-day series. Looks like he's OK now though. I would drop Marcus North, he hasn't done enough at #6. In fact the middle order has looked shaky for a while. Same for Nathan Hauritz, he had the chance to win a Test in India and couldn't do it. So that leaves it like this in rough batting order: Katich Watson Ponting Clarke Hussey M Hussey D Haddin Smith Johnson Harris Bollinger |

Not Ashes related, but Chris Gayle hit 333 for the Windies v Sri Lanka.
That's a hell of a knock. Good idea to send the 4 strike bowlers to Brisbane to get them used to the conditions. Hopefully they'll tear through the Aussies in the first test.

If Stuart Broad can get into a nice rhythm in his first spell, the Aussies may find themselves with difficult questions to answer. Conversely, Mitchell Johnson has his blindfold on, but if he manages to remove it he might pose some interesting questions as well. Bowlers win matches. But which ones will win the game this time? Most intriguing.

It is very well poised at the moment.
England playing well and the Aussies out of sorts, it seems. If we can catch them off guard, with Broad getting a few early wickets, we could spring a surprise. But then, I wouldn't be surprised if the Aussies stepped upo a gear or two and whitewashed the series!

Well, well. It looks like our doldrums continue. Australia A are getting a hammering and several of our top batsmen haven't performed this week. England on the other hand are firing on all cylinders. Looking forward to the first test with a mixture of anticipation and apprehension (kind of like the time I lost my...never mind. )

One hour to go before that first ball is bowled. I can't stand the tension. Will the first ball be bowled at second slip again?
