So I think that what you're smelling is rank hypocrisy of McConnell's refusal to bring the nomination of Merrick Garland -- a Judge who'd previously been overwhelmingly approved by Republicans-- to the floor for a vote.

That is a good point. However I do not think F even considered anything else but the politics in this case. If she was truly interested in justice the letter should have at the least been turned over to the Justice Department in July.
As to changing Senate rules I seem to recall that the Dems were the ones who changed the vote from 2/3 to 51.

That is why they prevail time and again, despite only representing a minority of voters.

So I guess Clinton was/is a straight arrow marriage vow upholding person???
Look neither side is shining with virtue and have not for a while but to point fingers at just one side is IMO hypocritical, both sides suck IMO.

You are using whataboutism and a false equivalency. Having cancer and having a headache both suck, but one is not like the other.

Even before the Trump administration, more than 80 members of Republican administrations were convicted of crimes over the last 50 years. The number of members of Democratic administrations convicted? One.

These numbers are even more remarkable when you consider that it's always Republicans investigating Democrats, yet never Democrats investigating Republicans, but always other Republicans (see also: Mueller, Rosenstein, Comey etc. - all life-long Republicans).

If there is one key difference between the two parties, it's that one of them doesn't have to cheat to win elections. When you always have to cheat to win, you may get away with it sometimes, but not every time.

I say let the vote proceed and let the chips fall where they may. If Kavanaugh is not confirmed use it in the mid-terms in same fashion at the Assault Weapons Ban vote was used in 1994. Those who were up for re-election in the 1994 midterms who voted for the AWB were hammered at the polls. And it effectively brought the end to gun control legislation in Congress, even after Sandy Hook. Let the vote happen. Maybe we can put an end to this stupid #metoo movement, too... at least in Congress.

No, that's not correct. When the Democrats controlled the Senate they reduced the 60 vote filibuster requirement regarding confirmation of trial court judges and Court of Appeal judges in the federal system. That allowed Kavanaugh to get confirmed to the Court of Appeals. But they kept the 60-vote requirement for the SCOTUS. in 2017 the Republican majority changed that rule for SCOTUS appointees to a simple majority.

In case you haven't noticed, the filibuster now applies to only a handful of issues, and soon will be gone completely.

Actually we were both correct.
Traditionally, this required support from at least 60 of the 100 senators; in 2013, however, Democrats circumvented the rules with the nuclear option to require only a simple majority of those voting—51 in most cases. The only exception: a nomination to the Supreme Court.

Back to the serious stuff.

https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2018/sep/18/stormy-daniels-tell-all-book-on-trump-salacious-detail-and-claims-of-cheating

She describes Trump’s penis as "smaller than average" but "not freakishly small."

"He knows he has an unusual penis," Daniels writes. "It has a huge mushroom head. Like a toadstool…

"I lay there, annoyed that I was getting fucked by a guy with Yeti pubes and a dick like the mushroom character in Mario Kart...

"It may have been the least impressive sex I’d ever had, but clearly, he didn’t share that opinion."

Tremendous!

Lots of Congressmen on the list for sure. If We expanded it to include state and local officials, we would need a lot bytes for storage. Neither party would look good, but even non-partisan offices have had their share of crooks and slime balls. This shouldn't surprise us seeing as we are in the midst of reporting about sexual abuse by clergy and subsequent cover ups.

No self respecting ape would be willing to concede shared ancestry with humans.

Watching the Tucker Carlson with Michael Avenatti video clip I kept wanting to yell, "Tucker, Stormy Daniels has been stripping since she was 18. It's her job and she seems to love it." Strippers do porn for advertising purposes.

The United States will impose a 10% tariff later this month on $200 billion worth of Chinese goods, increasing to 25% at the end of the year, the Trump administration announced Monday.
The additional tariffs are on top of penalties enacted earlier this year on $50 billion worth of Chinese goods. Taken together, it means roughly half of the products that China sells to the United States each year will be hit by American tariffs.
