From 1977 until 1991, I was able to attend the following shows

Sammy Haggar, Pat Benitar - Odessa, Tx
Merle Haggard (with opener Reba Mcentire) - Midland, Tx

Houston, Tx
ELO, Eric Clapton, Steve Miller Band, Lynyrd Skynyrd, The Eagles,
Bon Jovi (in a BAR before they were famous), REO Speedwagon,
Joan Jet & the Blackhearts, Genisis, Queen, Aerosmith, James Taylor..
- The list goes on and on..

But the two that stand out would be

Elvis - Madison Square Garden 1972 - See the Album HERE
(I was 8yrs old and our seats were so high up, we needed oxygen masks)

The other one was

Randy Quaid's Miller Party in the Dome - See the story HERE
(the WHO had broken up in 1983 - this show was 1989 and the WHO reunited for it..)

$25 got you in with FREE BEER for (all DAY).. My friends assure me I had a great time.. I was able to start speaking again sometime Thursday afternoon.

Living in Dayton is great from a location standpoint. Lot's of large cities within easy driving distance thus lots of concerts to see. Here are some of the tickets I haven't lost plus a few guitar picks I caught.

Some of the tickets I've lost somehow include The Rolling Stones, Led Zeppelin and country artists Alan Jackson, Vince Gill, Kenny Rogers and Alabama. There are probably a few more but that time in my life has more than a few blank spaces.

Quoting my own post

Went too the 1st of 2 of them last night........ And truthfully, blew the entire audience away.

I wont describe the concert from my point of view, rather, from a very close mates.

My mate always laughed at me and joked about Bruce when he lived at my place. He thought Bruce was over rated and so on. When the tour was announced, he joked about how he'd come along with us. SO we bought him a ticket and made him attend. I offered him too keep the money for the ticket and only repay me if he liked the show. Halfway through the concert during a quieter moment, my mate pulled his wallet out of his jeans, After the concert my mate was quiet, apart from saying "I've heard that thing about his live shows and didn't know it was all true".

3 hours of NO fireworks, exploding waterfalls, laser light spectaculars, costume changes.......There was just a band and music

The best part for myself and totally unexpected was he opened with my personal favorite song of his which I didn't even expect him to perform. Seeing a 63 year old putting together a 3 hour show with more energy into one song than a lot will put into a 90 minute or 2 hour show is remarkable and says a lot about how he appreciates his followers

Set list from last night
1. Long Walk Home
2. Radio Nowhere
3. My Love Will Not Let You Down
4. Better Days
5. We Take Care Of Our Own
6. Wrecking Ball
7. Death To My Hometown
8. Out In The Street
9. Factory
10. Lost In The Flood
11. High Hopes
12. Does This Bus Stop At 82nd Street
13. Candy's Room
14. Youngstown
15. Murder Incorporated
16. Pay Me My Money Down
17. I'm Goin' Down
18. Shackled & Drawn
19. Waitin' On A Sunny Day
20. The Rising
21. The Ghost of Tom Joad
22. Badlands
Encore

23. Jungleland
24. Born To Run
25. Dancing In The Dark
26. Tenth Avenue Freeze-Out
27. American Land

Hungry Heart, from the previous night

And we still have a show too go this weekend at Hanging Rock

The wife and I went to see Judas Priest and Steel panther in Virginia on the 25 of October 2014

Had great seats 6th row dead center in front of Halfords position on stage. Also it was Glen Tipton's birthday and they sang happy birthaday to him.

Very small venue Netelos wireless pavilion in Portsmouth,VA

Last Saturday night I was in Atlanta to see Slayer, Suicidal Tendencies & Exodus at The Tabernacle right in the middle of downtown Atlanta. Slayer is one of my favorite bands so I was pumped to see them. I've heard of Exodus and Suicidal Tendencies but didn't know their music. I've seen Slayer probably four times before but it was always at a festival, Ozzfest, Mayhem Fest, etc. so their sets were only an hour long in those settings. So this would be my first time to see a full Slayer set.

The Tabernacle is one of those old theaters that have been revitalized and now host concerts and other things. Seating capacity is 2600 plus standing room on the floor or moshing room on the floor for this concert. I had a ticket on the third floor, third row so you're kind of looking down on the stage.

Slayer absolutely killed it. All the songs they're known for Raining Blood, War Ensemble, South Of Heaven, Angel Of Death, etc., etc.

The only thing that spoiled a perfect evening was the lack of crowd control by the house staff. There was no enforcement to keep people in their seats. That outline in my pictures was a girl that had a seat about 8 rows back but she came down and stood in the aisle right at the front of the balcony along with four other people. People that had seats on the front row of the balcony were standing up. You're on the front row of the balcony why are you standing up?!?!? To get a better view?!?! I never hardly got to see stage right where Kerry King was.

Still even with all the idiots not staying in their seats it was a great night of head banging. SLAYER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Default The Best Concert You Have Ever Been To

In my late 20s to early 30s I went to about 350 concerts over a 6 year stretch. Most of them were country music. For me it would have to be Garth Brooks in Central Park back on July 7th, 1997. Below is a vid cap of me from the video of the concert.

March 10, 1968, in one of the ballrooms of the Washington Hilton. Opening act the Soft Machine, headliner the Jimi Hendrix Experience, Hendrix and Noel Redding using 6 400 watt amps each, and Mitch Mitchell with every drum and cymbal miked and running through a 2000 watt PA. Truly amazing.

I saw Slayer with Bio Hazard opening for them in Melbourne in 1996. That was one insane show!

Iron Maiden is right up there too on the Fear of the Dark tour. I missed them in 2011 as I had a bad case of flu. Just hope they come back.
