Default Been to a good concert lately?

Saturday I saw Alice Cooper in Toledo.I took my 10 year old daughter along, and it was her first major rock show.
As always, he put on an amazing show, and the place was packed, even in the rain.

I don't get to as many shows as I'd like to anymore- it's just so expensive these days, but I will always attend an Alice Cooper show!

I've seen Alice about five times and is always worth every penny. A great showman. Haven't been to a gig since October '10 which was Focus at the Robin 2 in Bilston. It's not always about fancy visuals but sometimes it's just good music, good musicians and a good few hours on stage. Focus are indeed that. The only strange thing is that they play their hits very early in the set and never save them for the encore.

Yep, Elvis Costello at the State Theatre. Elvis was great, only thing was he didn't play Alison.
Any excuse to go to the State, it's gorgeous.

Saw Rush in Newcastle on Saturday Night. I've seen every concert they've played in that town, so I had to go. The first one was June, 1977, but this was the first time I've had a front row seat.

Fortunately security didn't mind people taking pics, so here are a few views from the barrier ..

Saw Big Country in Bristol recently with Mike Peters from the Alarm on vocals. I was open minded about how this would turn out but I had a fantastic night and would highly recommend them to anyone.

Monogroover, I was there aswell. Did Sheffield Arena on Monday & Manchester MEN Arena on Thursday. Newcastle Metro Arena pissed on both of them. Totally friendly staff running the place, you could go out for a smoke & get back in no problem unlike the policy of No Re-Admission at the other 2 venues & also a decent proper bar where you could actually get something other than shit lager. Plus you get a great piss-up round Newcastle before & after. It is now my arena gig venue of choice & well worth the travel up from Hull.
Back on topic now. My band supported Fishbone in Hull a couple of weeks ago in The Adelphi which is basically a converted terraced house. The band had a cancellation during their 25th anniversary UK/Europe tour & contacted the guy who runs the place & said "We've heard so much about your place, can we play?" I've been going to gigs since 1981 & the Fishbone gig is now in my top 5 gigs ever. They were unbelievable. 7 guys going mental on probably the tiniest stage they've ever played on. Angelo the singer spent half the gig in the audience dancing & everyone in went bonkers from the moment they came on to the end of the gig. Fucking Awesome!!

Last gig I was at Was Billy Bragg in the Empire Music Hall in Belfast in March. Seen him over a dozen times.

I haven't been to a concert since 2008 - I saw Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds in Philadelphia. Third time I've seen them (plus a solo Nick cave tour) and as always, it was fantastic.

The only shows I've attended this year were German thrash metal band Mekong Delta on April 28th and jazz-fusion guitarist Scott Henderson on May 3rd. My next gig will probably be Ronald Shannon Jackson / Vernon Reid / Melvin Gibbs on June 14th.

In the last two weeks, I saw Rush twice (30 years after I first saw them), Mostly Autumn once (check out the lead singer!!!), and I was also lucky enough to see Roger Waters perform The Wall - bloody superb. Foo Fighters next (unless I blag another Wall ticket at the end of June).

To quote the grafitti on the pub next to the Manchester Apollo "I won't hear a word against Motorhead..........coz I can't hear a fucking thing!"
