Attack The Block. A motley group of teenage thugs and a lady they mugged (the future Dr Who) band together to protect their block of council flats from savage aliens. A blend of scifi action, laugh out loud comedy and social commentary. British film making at it's best.

The Dish
https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0205873/ Kind of fitting for this week since tomorrow is the 49th anniversary of the Apollo 11 moon landing. A favorite very underrated movie with Sam Neil and several other noted Australian actors. While it doesn't get all the facts correct, it's still a great movie. |

And last night The 2016 remake of The Jungle Book. Not a bad version of a story I've seen several times when my kids were little. And they did manage to squeeze in the Bear Necessities.

yes I know .....
Pacific Rim (2013) https://www.imdb.com/title/tt1663662/ The Earth has been under attack for years from giant monsters Kaijus coming from a breach in the Pacific plates, mankind has been fighting back with their own giants, manned automated killing machines called Jaegers. World leaders do not think the Jaegers will work so they start to erect giant walls however the Kaijus soon breach the wall and the Jaegers are called on as the last line of attack in an attempt to deliver a massive nuclear bomb into the breach and into the aliens dimension. Giant monsters, crazy scientists and a sexy Japanese co-star, what's not to love https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oEaSkRfDR9g

Babe 1995. The story of the world's first sheep pig. Still a few chuckles and some warm and fuzzy, but not as good as I remember.

Two movies I recorded from TCM that I had not seen before.
Lone Star Fairly wooden, considering the line up imo and they all rode off as friends at the end. https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0043751/?ref_=nv_sr_5 Ambush Thoroughly enjoyed this cavalry stomping on the Indians romp as well as Jean Hagen upstaging the sugar coated Arlene Dahl. https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0041117...nm_flmg_act_41 |
