All mp4 files are very "Jerky"

Hi All,
Just lately most videos seem to be in mp4 format but every time I try to play them using my media players - WMP, Real player etc. the video is very "Jerky", almost like a series of single frame images with a second or two second delay between each image rather than a watchable video image. Also sometimes the frame is upside down & mirror imaged. This is driving me crazy. Any ideas why this is happening?

i have no idea why its happening maybe a codec problem, i know i have experienced similar problems on other players in the past. i use about five or six different players some play certain formats better than others. vlc player (videolan) seems to be the most popular but my default player as of now is smplayer http://smplayer.sourceforge.net/ and havent had to many if any problems yet with it

vlc the newest version is here http://www.videolan.org/index.html

older versions of vlc http://www.oldapps.com/VLC_Player.php i use 1.0.1, older seems better

gom player http://www.gomlab.com/eng/

mpc http://mpc-hc.sourceforge.net/

i also use cccp codec pack http://www.cccp-project.net/

**WARNING** if you do try another player, when installing watch out for toolbars and chrome installers make sure to unclick all crap you dont want

CoreAVC might work. It costs money, but you can find it on torrent sites. Also updating your computer might work, better graphics card, more memory, CPU. Or maybe get the latest drivers for your current system.

I would suggest too to use VLC player. Its like the swiss knife of movie players. It plays nearly all available formats and u dont have to install codecs.

'klm codec' pack is the best ive found. inbeds itself to your players and 'cures' most issues.

failing that, i've found that often using realplayer on a first view after a long download can have problems, so right-click on the file and reopen using quicktime instead..... that works too.
